Hi,

New Ranger Owner here (actually brand new to pickup trucks), with a 21' STX 4x4.

When the footwell AC is turned on, I can feel very small amount coming through the vents, but barely. Is that normal? Compared to other cars I have owned, I would say that AC is not coming at all.

Is this an issue with any other owners here?

Thanks.

I noticed this also but my wife thinks it's normal.

So, I'm not the only one. When the footwell AC turns on, the top main vents reduce the output drastically. But the reduced amount is not felt in the footwell. It is definitely blocked, I feel.

Depending on what other outlets you have going at the same time it will reduce flow with each you add. From the headset controls use cab recirculating and just foot wells. Run fan on 4 and see what you get.

The other possibility here is your blend door in the system isn’t functioning properly. You can check that by running one at a time. Defrost, dash vents and footwell.

Mine does it too. Coming form a '14 Ford Fusion city driver, I thought, "Man this AC kinda sucks". I have found that I don't really use the foot AC anymore and it still circulates well. Better with it off actually.

My gripe is the footwell vent on the driver's side is awfully low/long and I often hit it with my toes when switching from gas to brake pedal... Thought about shaving a 1/2 inch off or so, but I have gotten used to it.

The amount of air flow to the feet blows! ;)

I wonder if Ford will address this for folks having this issue? TSB?

Something that I discovered a few months into owning my Ranger. I was always messing with what vents the air comes out, fan speed, all the climate control settings and wasn't super happy.
That all changed when I left it in Auto and set a temp and left it. The auto will handle the vents, the fan speed, and run it when needed. Then all you have to do is hit the AC button when its hot. Everything seems to work much better now and I would recommend you just leave it in Auto.

Try the auto functionality. I noticed the heat comes out much more on my feet on auto and turning the temp way up

I have tried it with no luck. Might be asking the dealer to check it out.

Mine is also the same. Super weak at the feet. If I have both top and bottom vents on, there is almost no air flow.

If I turn on only feet and put the fan on max, it sounds like a vent is partially closed/blocking airflow.
Exact issue in my truck.
