It's not a "failure" so many wouldn't be aware there's an issue. It doesn't fail, it just doesn't operate as smooth as it should.
Exactly. I think most people would have just kept driving my truck as the issues were very subtle. But Ford said put a new transmission in it. The subtle issues become nightmares down the road as we’re seeing.
Starts off nice and slow until the transmission goes kaboom and leaves you stranded somewhere.

Still BS that it has not evolve into a recall at this point.
I wonder what the failure rate is at this point. I hope there is a class action.

Is there anything we can do? I really messed up! I noticed subtle issues while within warranty, but thought dealer would just say they can't replicate it.

After a few months the issues are noticable at every stop. Now I'm just out of warranty and have been told it will be $7.5k out of my pocket after some asssistance from Ford for a brand new transmission. I really am disappointed in this as the issue wasn't from anything I did and
completely a design failure and very common as we see people post daily.

I could've continued driving with the bucking issue but have seen some people mention that eventually they got stranded after a few months of the very bad bucking issue. I'm really mulling over the decision to just bite the bullet or just cut my losses on my 19 Lariat.

Another one bites the dust. My 2019 is coming up on 85k and over the last few weeks started flaring 3-4 (had only been doing intermittent in cold start) and now rough shifting 1-2, 1-3, and 6-4. Dealer called this afternoon, reflash didn't work. Rebuild or replace recommended, both at absolutely absurd prices.

You know Ford is selling these transmissions fast, cause a Ford reman vs new unit only saves you like $300 bucks (new RWD unit is $5k at cheapest dealer in state).

Missing my old Frontier today.
How much was the total price for your repair? I find it odd I was initially told $7.5k for a remanufactured including labor. However dealer says they can't find any and suggest a new one for $12k total and now are saying, "hey actually the remanufactured one woul'dve just been a $600 difference you should just take the new one."

Has anyone used the "Cherry Bomb" drop in assembly?

Cherry Bomb Complete Input Drum Assembly

Apparently only a couple of hours to remove the trans, drop this in, and reinstall.

$3K is a much easier bite than $7.5K+

Bucking is usually not caused by the transmission. Many have found the EGR pressure feedback sensor (about $20) to be the cause of bucking.

That's where you are wrong my friend. I already replaced the DPFE sensor and still had the same issue. As menitoned in this thread the bucking issue comes from the CDF drum in the transmission and which is why my delaership is pushing for a new one and Ford has already agreed to cover a portion of the repair even then I'm looking at $7.5k out of pocket.

I would investigate local transmission shops if I were you. If mine ever blows up that is the direction I'm going - I don't trust any dealers to do the right thing (and not totally screw me in the process). I expect I will get better results for less money at a reputable local transmission shop. There is one not too far from me that has been there for like 40 years - they have a good reputation and that is who I will be taking it too if/when the need arises.

I’ve come to the conclusion that I’ll be selling it very sad was hoping this would be my forever truck.

I've said this a lot at work recently - "sometimes the devil you know is better than the devil you don't". Whatever you decide, good luck to you, but remember - trading ALWAYS costs you money - and you never know what you are going to get. Trading doesn't always guarantee things will improve.

One thing I swear by - having a warranty is nice, but at the end of the day what I REALLY want is NOT to have to take my truck in for repair. Whether I pay for it or not is a bonus, but having to take a vehicle in for repair is just a PITA. Its a big reason I'm keeping my 2019 for the long haul - it is paid for and thus far has been trouble free - I know what I have and I know where the potential issues are - I couldn't say that about a new rig.

Thanks for the words and knowledge but unfortunately I was already in a bad financial spot with the truck and this just dug that deeper. Expensive lesson for me to learn but wife and I can get by with one vehicle for the next year or two while I save for something new and get into a better financial deal for myself.

'drop in' is a bit of misnomer. You're not going that deep into the trans and not having to measure and set end clearances and the like. Likely some specialty tooling as well.

Maybe not according to their website...but you've still got debris in the case that is going to need cleaned out.

And what about the torque converter, the valve body and all the other goodies that should also be replaced. And most of all no warranty.

Trouble is with the drivability issues as in the bucking you will really take a hit on it for the sale price.
