I took the truck to the dealer today. I quoted the TSB number to the service advisor and after an hour and a half, he said that the TSB was for F-150s and not the Ranger (huh?!?) but that the mechanic found a TSB that covered reprogramming the PCM. He told me to drive it and see if it was better. I asked if the mechanic had not driven it before and after the reprogramming and the service advisor said that he had, and he noticed an "improvement". I drove it home and it did much better, not 100% but liveable, I guess. I still have trust issues, especially after listening to a different service advisor sell a brake job to a customer - doubt he really desperately need it like he said. I don't think I will take it back there for any more work. I caught the salesman in 3 lies, and that was 3 too many.
Just out of curiosity, is there any way I can independently check to see if the tech did in fact reprogram the PCM? Is there any other computer on the Ranger besides to the PCM that could be reprogrammed?

Yep, I have the same message. Not sure what action needs to be taken.

Hi Jon,

You will get a page insert in your owner's manual in most cases. It is an FYI as it was missed in the owner's manual printings for many Rangers. A pox on the responsible manager at Ford for such a lousy job editing the owner's manual.

Hi Jim,

No...just to remind you that there is a setting from the steering wheel buttons on the left to function and possible disablement in cares like I had to do for this Inane Sync 3 update for maps...I burned up a ton of gasoline after I figured out why the motor quite during the install. This whole Sync system has to be broomed for a system that in more than Orville and Wilber used to get their plane off the ground.

There should never be a need for Forescan for any Sync related crap.... Flippin system needs to be abolished for forward models and only supported for people like us that are stuck with this POS.

I was there when Sync was launched and it was a POS....Nothing has changes...Still a POS. Head of Product Development that pushed the launch of Sync, lost his job over this POS system....Why it continues I have no clue other than it is entrenched. Sync needs to be DEFUNDED...

There was a recall (not a TSB) for some for a connector for the brake lights (probably the entire rear units I'd guess) - there was a small number of vehicles that had some sort of connection issue that cause intermittent use of the lights.

https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/thre...019-my-ranger-vehicles-rear-lamps-issue.5182/

It only seems to apply to 2019 models though.

Suddenly lost the lower/wraparound portion of the driver's side brake/tail light on my 2023 XLT. Its going in on Thursday for oil change/service and I mentioned the issue on the service appointment through the app. Interested to see what they worked out for you.

they found nothing wrong :( but thankfully with help of members here I found the issue. under the truck is a wire harness that was not closed and snapped / locked together correctly. so any time it got wet or muddy the lights went goofy. i cleaned it up hosed it down with some crc electronic cleaner and snapped it together. no issues since then. its on the drivers side about mid bed.

They ordered the part/assembly and had it shipped to the dealer within 3 business days. Getting a new appointment for the install however ... has been dragging on for a bit ...
Finally getting in next Tuesday 7AM after they failed to confirm an appointment for tomorrow. I don't blame them, bad on my part for not reconfirming earlier.
