The part numbers above show up on my trans rebuild work order. I guess I have the latest parts installed on mine. I'm hoping the trans stays together and shifts correctly for life.

I'd think you've got the currently best transmission in a pre 2023 5G Ranger. With an upgraded trans pan, MBS dipstick and Lubeguard Platinum you're in good shape unless you get some tricked out valve body gets swapped out to compliment the build.

So a really common problem I'm seeing with all of our rangers is ROUGH and Delayed clunky shifting. I'm also seeing that alot of ranger owners have to replace their transmissions before they reach 100K miles. This sucks. You can bet this harsh delay and clunky shifting is a contributing factor to the short life span of our transmission

A brand new technical service bulletin (TSB 24-2046 ) was just released a few days ago on February 22, 2024.

Title: 10R80 Automatic Transmission - Harsh/Delayed Engagement And/Or Harsh/Delayed Shift - Non-Main Control Break-In Capable

Issue: Some 2017-2020 F-150, 2018-2021 Expedition/Navigator/Mustang, 2019-2023 Ranger vehicles equipped with a 10R80 transmission may exhibit a harsh/delayed engagement and/or harsh/delayed shift. This may be due to the transmission solenoid ID strategy, sticking valves in the main control valve body and/or axial movement of the CDF clutch cylinder (7H351) sleeve. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to identify and correct the condition.

I've attached the TSB document for you to see but to me, it looks like a BUNCH of work on the transmission. There's even some language for newer/low mile vehicles to have a complete transmission replacement. Not some little gasket or plug and play replacement. Someone smarter than me can look at it.
I just got my truck back today, and after EGR replacement (Covered under power train warranty) it hasn’t bucked or any other problems !

Just got my truck back from the Ford dealer. They replaced the EGR (covered under power train warranty) and driving it home it didn’t have any problems at all with bucking at lower speeds. All of the issues it was having that we all have described have gone away completely! I’ll keep you all posted though after I drive it for a while!

This was not the EGR valve, it was the DPFE sensor - They Replaced
I see you are new - HIGHLY COMMON failure part

I believe I may have this issue on my low mileage 22 Lariat from the onset, but how can I tell? Also, what's the procedure for getting the dealer involved?

The latest TSB is 24-2101. All that is required is to let the dealership know that you are having shifting issues and they are supposed to follow the TSB. Any hint of harsh or delayed shifts will qualify. Attached a copy of the TSB. Note that being a low mileage 2022 may qualify you for a new transmission if the initial TSB steps don’t clear up the issue.

Thanks. It looks like in order for any vehicle to qualify, it needs to be a 10R80 transmission. Is there a way to tell if this is currently what my truck has?

All 5G - Us Version - Rangers have the 10R80, no other option. (2019-2023)

Well whatever they replaced it completely fixed the issues I was having with the transmission. I have been perusing these forums for months now, just wanted to post showing my fix for the issue for the next person who will have the same issue

I wonder what the failure rate is at this point. I hope there is a class action.

I called my local Ford dealer and requested their transmission tech to drive the truck to demo the issue. I got a call within 2 hours of dropping the truck off stating the issue and they said it would be covered under 60k powertrain warranty. They kept the truck for 4 days and delivered it back, and haven’t had any issues with the transmission since

It's not a "failure" so many wouldn't be aware there's an issue. It doesn't fail, it just doesn't operate as smooth as it should.
Exactly. I think most people would have just kept driving my truck as the issues were very subtle. But Ford said put a new transmission in it. The subtle issues become nightmares down the road as we’re seeing.
