Big O Tires just quoted me $35 per shock to install, plus $69 for alignment. They are ASE certified, am I nuts?

If I am understanding correctly, $35 per shock to install the Ford Fox Performance suspension or rear shocks? Honestly, $35 is nothing for each shock/coilover... If it worries you that much, just spend the hour underneath your truck for rear shocks. $70/hr for the mechanics time and tools seems worth it for me if it is just shocks. I rather do it myself though knowing how simple it is, just takes time and tools. Coilovers, slightly different story and more than likely need alignment for peace of mind. Although I read the Fox suspension tuned by ford does not change much in degrees when installed...

I'd go for it at that price.

Most shops are more than double that for a level with rear shock install. I'll be doing mine myself (plus rear springs) with the help of my BIL to save the dough. But at that quoted price I'd let them do it.

The Ford fox Performance suspension, maybe I should have said "front coilovers" and rear shocks to the guy?

Might be a good idea to clear that up. But if the case is that it’s shocks and coil overs for $35 a pop. That’s insanely cheap. From what I have read and remember correctly it is upwards of $300-500 to install coil overs and shocks.

$140 for all four corners is a steal...even for 4 times that amount it's still a bargain...I was quoted $800-900...the front install is the bitch...the anxiety that install put me through is not something I care to repeat...

I'd make sure they know what they're doing and don't end up popping your CV's marbles then charge you 10 times the quote to fix it... ?

The fronts for $35 is a steal. Get it in writing and do it immediately. Don't hesitate.

You may want to clarify that the fronts are not just a shock to install. The price seems wicked low. I know my shop wanted to charge as much as I paid for the parts in labor.

Coil over install is a pain and can be dangerous with the spring compression. Sounds too good but again, get it in writing!

My install was Eibach Pro Kit so the coilovers were already together. It was a 'simple' R&R job. Fronts took me 8 hours, shop wanted 5 hour labor at $135/hr. I did not need a spring compressor.

I agree with most. There seems to be miscommunication as it seems far cheaper price and for me it seems odd to quote per shock. Would seem that it would a cost for the front and a cost for the rear

Hi All,
UPDATE: I took the All Mighty Ranger to Big O Tires so we all could get on the same page about the $35 per shock quote. $100 each for the front, $35 each for the rear, and $70 for the alignment. With taxes and shop supplies, OTD $347. Glad I double-checked, as the original quote was $35 each. Thanks for all of the helpful feedback, I appreciate it.
