Engine Cover Kit Discontinued??

Odd it's listed as fourth gen although that looks current. Still too expensive and I'd want something water shedding and sound absorbent to mask the fuel pump noise.

The fact it exists is a positive though.

It's listed as a Gen 4 (19-23) so I think it's a typo but it's angled on the back side and has no vents back their either. I'd think that would provide adequate #4 protection, no?

Went to buy from Benny and also called my dealer (tremor getting first oil change and some goodies with FordPass rewards). Looks like no more engine cover kits which stinks. Should have ordered it back in January. Argh!
Dealership says they are listed as a discontinued part from Ford.

It's because ford has a tsb on it and it is now sold as a kit. Nuts, bolts and cover as one. New number is L1MZ6A949C sells for $245.00.

Probably, but that cover does not allow access to the oil dipstick and filler opening. Maybe that cover snaps off easy to allow access though?

@SpazC - I'm dubious because unlike the Ranger cover which bolts straight to the vehicle - it looks like this cover has mounting brackets that are also installed to the vehicle (black brackets in picture 2) and then the cover attaches to the 4 brackets. That may force it to mount too high in the engine bay. It looks like the clips on the cover itself are designed to slide into the brackets and not the bolts..

There are 2 mounting points on the Ranger cover and it looks like the two of the three forward-most mounting points could line up with the mounting points on the Ranger.

I think the big question is will those black brackets mount up to the Ranger bolt holes?

Prior to the part being discontinued then the new one being offered at nuts prices there are tons of threads on bronco forums talking about using the Ranger engine cover on theirs and it working.

If they confirm I might be the guinea pig.

The Ford cover is made of a foam type material. That one above is plastic. If you are looking for sound deadening, the Ford one will do better.

Well Miss Sarah has a 2.3l Manual Black Diamond edition Bronco and she installed the OEM Ranger cover so.....

That might fit, but it is completely different than the Ranger engine cover.

I wouldn't pay $20 for an engine cover unless I was having a water pooling issue from regular use in weather. If it's just a car washing water pooling problem, I'd blow the water out after washing. If it's due to driving in rain and a regular problem, I think I'd figure something out with some zip ties and a piece of plastic from a windshield jug or similar attached to the firewall/cowl area. $176 from ford is absolutely absurd, and I'd have to be experiencing a real problem before rewarding their greedy BS behavior.

Spot on. I bought an original Ford unit before they were discontinued for like $135. My goal was to keep water out of the spark plug wells. The only spark plug well that ever got water in it was #4. That water leaked (from any source) directly from the center clip on the trim above #4 (incredible stupid design on Ford's part).

#4 is not covered by the engine cover, hence, with any water (rain, car wash, you name it), the #4 well gets water. (again, an incredibly stupid design of the cover on Ford's part).

Your idea of blowing out the water after car washes is a good one. The car wash I use has compressed air hoses on every vacuum station.

In my case, I just made a dam of RTV around that center fastener and I get no water in #4 now. If I would have read about that leak ahead of time, I could have avoided the cost of the engine cover.

Absolutely, the damn thing doesn't extend back to cover #4. You have to fix the source of the leak above it, regardless of whether you have the cover or not.

A class action lawsuit of all this nonsense seems right to me.

Fook me, lol. I've never even looked in at mine, because I had the cover from factory. I thought it was only a problem for non cover motors. I parked outside for over a year too, and live in a snow belt.

I bought new plugs a while back to be ready for the first change. I'm still only at 50,000 miles or so. I guess I'll take a look and see what they look like, then go from there.

I'll be some disappointed if there is rust, and I have to make a nanny skirt for the back of the engine cover.
