When I added the engine cover it made enough difference that my wife noticed it without me telling her I did something.

Noise outside the truck is significantly reduced.
My wife IS the noise inside the truck , outside to , if your telling me it will reduce that, then I'll take 50 ...

Hi Tyler,

Your adjective might be inappropriat to the intent of this cover. This type of foam is very effective in noise attenuation, cleverly hidden as a engine cover. If you do not like your cover, then let forum members know and it will be snapped up PDQ. As a NVH specialist, I have quite a bit of experience with noise attenuation....Engine covers and hood blankets are very effective. So Shitty? I disagree. What do you want? Metal? Plastic? Welcome to the world of modern technology. I took my engine cover off and drove my truck around town and on the freeway...then duplicated the route with the engine cover in place... My opinion was an improvement in interior noise level. Since I have no diagnostic equipment like I had at my disposal at Ford Light Truck Engineering, I can only state this subjectively with no objective data.

My beef is that it was deleted as a cost reduction...It should have remained on the higher end trucks. A pox on the PVT manager for approving this deletion...just like the middle tie downs.

Best,

I won't be buying one. My garage has two covers for cars I don't own (not sure why I have yet to toss them- I got rid of the stock exhaust for one of them at least....) and one car that I still have laying around. I get they have a purpose with noise but I also like to listen for a change in sound to warm me something is going wrong.

Maybe if it was painted and looked really nice I might keep it on there. I saw someone post an excellent example of that not to long ago but I forget who did it.

In the driveway... my Kia is the only thing that has one. I have yet to work on it so it is still sitting on top of the motor.

I installed mine. Looks wonky. I can't imagine there is some other way to install it. Should it look like this?
Yes, it should look like that.
The rest of your engine bay, however.... ;)

It looks "wonky" most likely because the rest of your bay is filthy, LOL!

Got one of two options I suppose. Throw more dirt in there and make it match or, spend some time and clean everything so it looks nice is like your cover!

There, that was easy! ?

Is the right side snapped down onto the little nub?

Mine is parallel to the cowl weatherstrip at the rear.

Yours looks high on the driver side.

BTW yours looks clean compared to mine ?

I went to look at it to compare and I remembered "Oh yeah, Trail ride" ?

On second look, you are right, I think. Looks just a little high on the right.

Lol. I couldn’t sleep until I’ve simple greened that whole engine bay. Nice new cover, though

I’ll be at LBL in less than a month. I figure I’ll clean it after that, lol.

Is there such a thing as a politician that isn't crooked?

As for the side being a little high...

Is The Engine Cover A Little High?
