The past few days, I’ve been getting calls from the dealership where I bought the ranger. They keep leaving messages that I’m coming up on 80k miles and I’m due for service. I finally answered and told the guy that I do my own maintenance so I’m good. He sounded bewildered and asked if I’m sure? Lol

I said yup, I’m good. Transmission and diff fluids were changed at 60k miles and I’m not due yet. I stay on top of oil and filter changes. Coolant was done at 60k miles, brake fluid looks good, pads and rotors look fine, everything is running smoothly. The only thing that needs to be done is spark plugs but I’ll do that myself. He asked again if I’m sure…

I told the guy I didn’t want to be rude but even if my truck DID need service (I need to get the transmission looked at but I’m not gonna tell him that) I wouldn’t bring it to your dealership. Last time I was there your service techs left the skid plate loose, the air filter housing wasn’t snapped closed, and some of the snap clips that hold the splash shield over the oil filter were broken or missing. That was for my first oil change that was supposed to be free but ended up costing me $300…

If your guys can’t even do small things correctly, I’m not sure I trust you with much else. There’s another Ford dealership we took my wife’s ranger to a few months ago and I was much happier with my experience there. If and when I need my truck serviced, I’ll take it there instead.

There was a long and awkward silence on his end so I said thanks and hung up lol

My exdealership does that too. They know all about my truck but haven't noticed that I moved 900 miles away. I used to like them but they gave me a royal screw job that I won't get into and won't get over. I even quit going for my free lifetime NC state inspection.

I click the 'unsubscribe' link and I get the 'you have been unsubscribed' message.
Next service interval comes around, I get another notification.
I've clicked that 'unsubscribe' link many times. I guess it means nothing.

Mine sent me a txt message that (based on time I assume) I was due for my next service. I replied that I was just there 2k miles ago, I'm good. I told her don't worry, when its time, I'll let you know. Guess they don't check history before buggin people lol.

They are just trying to book up as much work as they can in any way that works. So much for customer care.

Lol I have some dealers in AZ trying to contact me from time to time. I last spoke to them well over a year ago and I formed them that if I get another call again that it will be going to a lawyer. Probably why the phone has been quiet as of late

We bought a Mazda CX-90 last August from Morrie's Mazda in the Twin Cities.and in the process of signing out we provided the obligatory email address, which apparently they consider license to spam me with all manner of messages. I got one around November last year wondering if I was ready to trade yet??
A short time ago, I got a phone call from them saying they had me scheduled for an oil change & tire rotation on a date later in the month, which I never made. I said I couldn't understand why it would be coming up again so soon as I had the service done a few days before at Burnsville Mazda- Didn't they forward that info to you? Long pause... and then I requested that my phone number and email address be removed from their system.

I also moved the trade-in email to junk so future emails would go there and deleted them from my phone contacts. I had that twinjey feeling when we were buying the car and the after sale antics confirmed it.

I have similar milage to you and highly recommend you try the dpfe sensor replacement if you are getting hard or delayed shifting in your transmission. I did mine on a hunch at 85k and it made my truck shift like new again. Just a thought.

If you were a tech waiting for some work to hit your bay you wouldn’t be so critical. Times are tough out there.

Already did that but it didn’t help. It drove a little better for a week or so then started that delayed hard shift from 3-4 again. Unfortunately, I think it’s at the point where it needs service. I drive it in tow/haul mode most of the time and it helps a bit but it still doesn’t shift normally.

Even when I worked as an electrician doing residential and commercial remodels, I wasn’t spam calling my customers asking if they wanted me to come do more work at their house… I get it, times are tough, but blowing up someone’s phone isn’t how you get more work. There’s a fine line between trying to bid jobs and keep your crew busy vs annoying a customer.

On the flip side, maybe if their techs took some pride in their work and didn’t do a half-assed job they wouldn’t be in the position where they have to call customers and beg them to bring their vehicle back for service. When you overcharge people for crap work, you shouldn’t be surprised when people stop coming to you.

There are plenty of Ford techs that take pride in their work. The way to keep them there is to keep work in their bay. Sometimes the appointments drop like a rock and you need to run through the customer list or possibly Fords UIO list for your area. Being a flat rate tech has plenty of challenges no matter how good you are.

I'm sorry if someone needs work; I don't want phone calls, messages, emails or knocks at the door from every auto tech, furnace repairman, roofing service, tree trimmers, etc that needs work. When I need those services I'll call them. Don't call me. I'll purposely avoid any who have bothered me in the past. JMO

Are techs really waiting for work? It seems that when I need an appointment, it's 7-10 days out or more.

If you scroll up to my post #8, maybe that explains why some techs are lacking work.
