If you want to hear an actual expert's information on the subject instead of memes or what your friend said on Facebook, I highly recommend listening to Joe Rogan's Podcast #1439 with Michael Osterholm which provides a lot of useful information about what's known, what's not known yet, and what should be done in the future for this and other diseases.

"Michael Osterholm is an internationally recognized expert in infectious disease epidemiology. He is Regents Professor, McKnight Presidential Endowed Chair in Public Health, the director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP), Distinguished Teaching Professor in the Division of Environmental Health Sciences, School of Public Health, a professor in the Technological Leadership Institute, College of Science and Engineering, and an adjunct professor in the Medical School, all at the University of Minnesota."
Joe Rogan's got some great podcasts, asks some great intelligent questions, and makes his guests comfortable enough to get them to open up. It's why he's consistently the top ranked podcaster. I'll give this one a listen. A lot of what we are hearing about the virus is watered down BS, filtered through government agencies, telling us what they want us to hear.

Now excuse me, while I tend to my toilet paper stockpile.

not to be a dick, but this is all media hype and blowing it up beyond what it is.
influenza kills way more people yearly and we can get a shot to help minimize our infection rate. I think it was 24000 deaths in Italy the last year.
And Italy has a high elderly population to boot. So naturally they're going to show high rates.

Maybe corona will get worse, maybe people will take enough precautions it wont.

But if you're religious, it's gods way of culling the herd.

The world has become a place of paranoia, and the media hypes that to the max. As a result the world spirals into fear.

I'm just living my life, washing my hands often and not touching other people. rolling the dice on life. I buy my toilet paper when i run out, and go grocery shopping for the daily essentials. Oh, and I bought some limes too...corona was cheep at the beer store.
While I agree with your "don't panic" mentality and simply taking a few extra precautions, this is not the same as the flu even though they have similar symptoms.

The mortality rate for the flu is 0.1% while the number of deaths in confirmed cases for the coronavirus is 3.5%.

Also we have vaccines for the flu (although some would debate their effectiveness and I wouldn't disagree) but no vaccines yet for covid-19.

Here's more info...

My company is getting caught up in the hype and they canceled my trip to a trade show in LA next month. I was really looking forward to that
I should be in Chicago right now for the spring Ace Hardware convention, but it got cancelled. I'll admit I was a little surprised/upset at first, but now I'm actually ok with not going.

I normally go to the NAB show in Vegas every April for my company....it got canceled too.

I really didn't feel like going this year anyway to be honest.

Time to start rebuying market positions. Panic peak levels ensuing. As I said in Early feb lower stock allocations. Vix in the 60’s. Blood in the street. Cheers

I’m begin to think a two week social isolation “air gap” might be good for this country.
