Do a search, there are many made in USA companies out there clothes, shoes, all my business casual clothes are made in USA, jeans are Texas Jeans, socks made by Fox River, EcoSox, a part for our Rangers are made here in Effingham IL. Libman makes brooms and brushes in Arcola IL, you frequently see their products on TV during baskektball games, used to wipe the floors when someone goes down. Wether Tech and Husky are made in USA. I belive Stanley is making an effort to manufacture tools here.
Maybe we should start a Made In USA thread.
The effort was the point, making it simple on a mass consumer scale for the everyday online shopper. The effort involved to do the research on every company/product to suss out country of origin is not a level of diligence tolerable by the avg consumer.

WE are clearly motivated to buy on principle but WE are not the avg consumer. Make buying on principle as easy as clicking a “filter by” button and that will help the avg consumer be willing/able to buy on principle.

Also - love the idea of a Made in the USA thread! Fire it up!

My girlfriend and I were talking last night how this virus is going to change the world we live in now. She's getting depressed and wants things to get "back to normal" like everyone else but is it really going to? I think in time some things will but I feel there's a lot that's going to change because of this. Many have had to work from home and I can now see many businesses doing this going forward. One to make sure they keep this virus from spreading throughout their company and two it will cut down on office space and overhead for them in the future. I've asked my girlfriend over the years if she could keep her job and work from home once she moves out here and she swore there was NO way she could do this. She's in AR for a large company and now that she's forced to it's actually working out. Some tasks are more difficult but you have to find other ways around your old routine and now she actually likes it.

Another is the food industry. I think you will see more curbside pickups and larger companies giving free delivery because they will be able to eliminate employees which will cut their expenses not having to pay them $15.00 minimum wage and taxes and insurance on them. I see mobile app ordering booming from this.

I also think the housing and auto industry will be hammered for many years because of the millions who have lost their jobs and until people feel comfortable making large purchases again. If this happened a year ago I don't think I would've bought my Ranger and would've kept my Tacoma. As much as I hated that truck it would've been paid off on 1/5/2020 and I would't want a loan even though I didn't finance much and it is for 0%.

We're supposed to go up to Sedona in 2 weeks but seeing as everything is closed (even if it re-opens) we're canceling that. Still not sure about our Utah trip the end of July but we might stay closer to home and just go up to Flagstaff to save money.

I've had season tickets to the Cardinals for 8 years now. I hate to give up my seats as they're 12 rows off the field on the 40 yard line but there's NO way I'm going to a stadium filled with 60,000+ people with this virus around. ?

What do you all think will change because of this?

Are you going to do anything different in your personal lives?
When things calm back down, and they will calm back down. We as a nation need to ask some difficult questions.
1) Do we really need to send all of those manufacturing jobs away and be dependent on other nations?
2) Should we begin to isolate ourselves from countries that do not have the same health standards?
3) How do we interact with governments that do not believe or practice democracy?

If we do not ask ourselves these questions, then this will repeat again and again.

We also need to know if this was an intentional or accidental release from a virus lab. If it was natural, and an outcome of the "wet markets" in China, then we as a society should not allow travelers to enter our nation without some sort of quarantine in the future.

My fear is that our politicians will still push for open borders and this will occur again and again. I am not saying we should not allow immigrants into this nation (that is how this nation has been populated since the beginning of time), but we should know if someone is infected with a disease or virus that can put the population of this nation at risk. Other nations have this type of restrictions, and it should not be a political point to have a similar restriction here. As New York has found, most of the infections came from Europe, and if we had rules in place that would have quarantined incoming travelers, or some sort of medical inspection, this could have been less of an issue.

No matter what the outcome of this will be, we still need as a nation to have that discussion.

canada and the US could barely work out a free trade deal.....could you imagine working out some sort of travel deal with open/closed borders and mandatory quarantines?
I understand, but when leaders put politics before the safety of the people, you get things like that. I think the people are going to have to make their politicians listen and do the will of the people. Otherwise, politicians will do what is easy and put the population at risk again.

It is time for the politicians to do what we want, not what they want.

My girlfriend was looking for face masks online the other night and just about every one of them were made in China! Yeah, that's not happening! I finally found an article which had a few places where they are made here in the USA. They are more expensive but F' it,that's where she's getting it from! It will be hard for certain items but we're both trying our best NOT to buy stuff from China and support those made in the USA!

I highly recommend these:

Excellent quality, fast shipping and MADE IN USA ??

I have no affiliation, just a proud American who would rather buy American!

I went to the airport yesterday for the first time since this hit. I could not believe how desolate it was especially since it's Memorial Day weekend. My girlfriend said both airports (Midway and Sky Harbor) were empty inside. The plane had 109 people on board and the middle seats were restricted and masks are mandatory now in the airports and on the planes. The cell phone lot only had about 20 cars waiting and once she called me it was a straight shot to the pick up at the terminal. There's usually a long line of traffic on any given day from the cell lot to the terminal.

Az has been open for 2 weeks now and I know most states are just starting to open back up but this was very eerie. Sky Harbor is a very busy airport and always packed. I hope things start getting back to normal soon as I don't know how long these airlines can withstand this. One good thing (for her) was her flight was only $45.00 each way.

We have restaurants and bars opening in Illinois despite the governors orders. Our county had 6 cases early on, 2 that were actually Chicago but they had addresses here. The state set up a testing center for us, the only reason I can think of would be to try to get or numbers up and that did not happen.
Our stores that are open are crowded, the mask mandate is only enforced at Menard's, traffic is picking up in town and the interstate, county's sheriffs and local law enforcement in many places are saying they will not enforce the governors orders, we are close to full revolt despite the governor threats.
Here is a case of insanity, I was able to get a routine teeth cleaning at the dentist but still cannot get a haircut.
My wife is an OR nurse and is furloughed, something has to give, we are not meant to spend this much time together.

China is finally exposed for the evil empire that they are. Nixon really did us a diservice when he went to China and opened up trade. I think that from now on all people coming from certain socialist evil empires have to be quarentined for two weeks. And that means citizens of our country going there and coming back. Unrestrained sneezing in public is a misdemeanor requiring a doctor visit to clear. Contact with public with a known virus is the same as spitting on someone. The Mayor of Tucson will wear a sound proof muzzle. LOL ?

my last work trip in april was a 737 800 series, with 15 people.....you literally felt alone on the plane.
I have a customer that works for Southwest, she said back in March/April most of her flights there were only 3-4 people on most flights. Seeing as it is Memorial Day weekend I thought there would be more people flying but I guess it's still to early.

WE (AZ) have been open since the 8th and while some businesses have picked up,many are still struggling. I feel bad for the businesses who's governors refuse to let them open. Sorry but there's NO reason if larger ones like Home Depot,Lowes and ChinaMart can remain open that the small business can not open too and follow the same CDC guidelines.
