My guess is it will get worse. When the animals can't find food they will start stealing it whether it be from others homes or right out of their hands while in the parking lots.

I don't think I've mentioned this before but my girlfriend still lives there. We've been doing the long distance thing for a long time but mostly because she was caring for her sick mom. When she passed she was getting ready to move but her daughter was having trouble finding a good steady job so she was now helping her out. Fast forward daughter now has a good job (hopeful still) and this shit happens! So needless to say I've been sick to my stomach and I've already told her if things get worse there I'm driving out there and picking her up. Hopefully I'm over-reacting as she's not in a terrible neighborhood but it's still Chicago non the less.:frown:
It's a crazy and sad world right now, but times will get better. Keep your spirits high and God bless!

So it is 4am eastern. I sit here as I am staffing my company's Covid 19 Hotline for impacted employees and locations. It is amazing how something like this has absolutely crippled the planet. I live in MD, my daughter is in school in Orange County, CA, hope to have her home Monday, but the ONE thing that concerned me with her being out there was what if "something" happens... crazy how little control we have when these things happen, but also how people are so willing to support and help. For all the insane stories of hording and price gouging, there are still a ton of really good people out there.

I consider myself very lucky to be part of a company that goes to the lengths it does to help it's employees, yet I am also very fearful that, if this lasts, am I at risk of a layoff as many are dealing with right now. Has me rethinking and appreciating many things personally and professionally. Definitely need to be better prepared because this will not be the last time something like this happens.

Guess one serious question I have is how mad will my daughter be when I hose her down in Lysol when she comes out of the airport?!
Don't worry, she'll know it's out of love!

Mix in some of her favorite perfume, you should be good to go!

and yes, there are plenty of positive stories happening everyday during this crisis. It is interesting that as our world shrinks due to faster travel and communication, we are asked to distance ourselves from one another for a time. We all live on this wacky planet Earth, so we are all neighbors.

We are taking this very seriously also. You're right, there are some very good folks out there. :inlove:It's great to see people so helpful to, & supportive of, each other. Even if all we can do at times is to offer someone a smile or good hearted laugh. I know I get quite a kick reading some of (a lot of) these posts on this forum. I love all the various personalities. I work in a hospital and I realize how important it is to show love, compassion, & a sense of humor (even though we don't always feel like it!). Take care of yourselves!!!!:sun:

We've been cruising thru the stores over the last few days, seeing no increase in store inventories, just huge quantities of shoppers, cars in the parking lots, ect--So drove out to the egg store yesterday--Store was closed, but the LED sign stated, Open Sat!! Since we haven't seen any eggs in the supermarkets, I drove out to the egg store, this morn, ( 7:00AM opening), an encountered a line of "egg buyers", stretching down the highway!!! I waited with everyone else in line, got thru the egg store-employee's were in the lot, taking "CASH ONLY", and delivering eggs thru the vehicle windows, limit two 18 packs--came out, and the line on the hwy was over a mile long now--1 hour to get thru the process, and they are out of eggs, after a one hour opening!!!

CT is on lockdown starting tomorrow night.

Drove to the office yesterday to make sure everything is secure and it was just plain out eerie. Very "Walking Dead" driving down the parkway without hardly a soul out. Luckily, our supermarkets are getting replenished decently (except paper products). My wife was able to get chicken yesterday which we have not been able to in a week.

She had to drive to her very elderly parents this morning in Westchester, NY (super hotspot) to bring them groceries and supplies.

Keep an eye on your elderly relatives and neighbors! They need help during this more than most.

PS: I want to use this time staying home to get in shape....but who am I kidding? ?

I want to start some home projects, but I wonder if I'll be able to get all the way through it if I can't get what I need from Home Depot / etc... I know they'll still be open (supposedly they are considered essential), but I doubt they'll be restocking drywall and stuff like that.

One good thing is we don't have to worry about that "Chinese drywall" that ruined all those homes back in the early to mid 2000's. You think we'd have learned our lesson then? :headbang:

There's always a price to pay when you buy cheap goods! :flag:

We've been cruising thru the stores over the last few days, seeing no increase in store inventories, just huge quantities of shoppers, cars in the parking lots, ect--So drove out to Hickman"s egg store yesterday--Store was closed, but the LED sign stated, Open Sat!! Since we haven't seen any eggs in the supermarkets, I drove out to Hickmans this morn, ( 7:00AM opening), an encountered a line of "egg buyers", stretching down the highway!!!
The scary part is we are going to have a shortage because people won't stop panic buying. There's NO way this can keep up and then there's hurricane season just around the corner. Once all the restaurants are allowed to open they're going to need to replenish their stock so there's going to be another strain.

Even with stores putting limits on most items now I see people going out to their cars and going right back inside to buy more. I don't know how you can stop this and I'm no IT expert but you'd think that could write something into the rewards card that shows you've already purchased your limit? I'm just glad to see that every store and warehouse club has a sign stating NO returns! With no basements here to store stuff I have no idea where these idiots are keeping all this TP?

The panic buying was really bad the previous weekend here, but I went to Safeway at 6am today, i wont say you could get anything you wanted but things seemed to be much more restocked then last weekend. They actually had pasta, hot dog buns, frozen veggies. I wonder if all last weekends hoarders ran out of storage by this weekend.

They all over ate and can’t get out of their toilet recliners.
