I always wonder how/why they end up back on the lot after just 7500 miles...

And then we hear from "new" owners of 7500 mile trucks making the same complaints that took the truck back in the first place.

Hey, don’t come in here w dat positivity. We bison bashing!
Hell I almost bought one and I'm obviously a Ford guy.

Couple things turned me off. While certainly capable for my needs the drivetrain choices lacked in my eyes. A naturally aspirated V-6 that while proven wasn't exciting at all, much like the Taco. Or a diesel that I wanted to love but would probably disappoint in my day to day, but it does come with a "Jake Brake." The tranny doesn't have the best rep either.

And the amenities. For quite a bit more than my loaded Ranger at the time it came with Halogen headlamps, no intelligent access and a key.

Also, aftermarket support doesn't seem as robust as ours either.

Not a bad truck. Just not for me.
It still doesn't bode well for the frame design.
One always expect the engineering to be more robust in every way, to accommodate for the oopsies.
Sucks to those that had this issue as I am sure their mistakes were a big contributor to the end result.
Does it make the whole product line garbage because of an isolated incident...nope, not a chance. But it's still a large black mark to overcome.
Fords not immune to it either.

Just goes to show that everything has it's limits.

From what I remember the truck pictured was towing a heavily laden unbraked offroad trailer entirely too fast over some whoops.

Maybe Ford should make a Black Bison Edition Ranger...
Aren't they making a Black Horse Edition Mustang?

I can't make out the first one too well, but the second is evidently user error. 8 foot bed trailer on a smaller box.. something was bound to happen. Not all of our trucks were built between Tue and Thu, so Devil his due, the second is not a Ford problem.

Payload and towing are pretty awful compared to our Rangers, from what I can find a diesel crew cab Bison is only rated for 930lbs. That might be alright if you're just looking for something to rip around trails but doesn't give you much headroom for an overland setup or for carrying dirtbikes or whatever.

I have not heard good things about the baby duramax in that thing. It may have the duramax name, but does not have the same build quality or reliability as the v8 duramax's.

I know one guy out here who traded a Z71 diesel Colorado for the ZR2 Bison specifically to get back into a gas motor.
IMO, small diesels make no sense in the modern market for a whole variety of reasons.

It doesn't help that they tend to be heavier, which eats into the payload of a light truck where the weight of the engine is a much larger fraction of the gross weight than it is on a large vehicle.

The bed sits too high......No way I could reach in the back for anything............
Probably a design flaw they missed until it was too late to fix.

Just saw this and, honestly, really liked it.... curious on other's thoughts. It was $52k with 7500 miles. Not bad considering the cost new. Anybody have any direct experience with one of these? With the DuraMax diesel?

That 2.8L Duramax is actually the Italian VM 2.8L Diesel which was used by Chrysler for the Liberty CRD, it had a short run here in the US but was used for the Liberty in the export market. One thing about VM Diesels, they really are not meant for towing, as the VM 3.0L is Chryslers ''EcoDiesel'' that was used in the Grand Cherokee and till next year still an option for the RAM 1500. As noted by a lot of RAM owners you just don't tow with your EcoDiesel or not very much at all. I would say great for the trail life but I wouldn't suggest let alone say tow with it.
