Just saw this and, honestly, really liked it.... curious on other's thoughts. It was $52k with 7500 miles. Not bad considering the cost new. Anybody have any direct experience with one of these? With the DuraMax diesel?
They're pretty good trucks all things considered. I liked the physical space inside the cab when test driving trucks, but not a big fan of the aesthetic. Ford interiors look objectively nicer than other trucks IMO. I spend a ton of time behind the wheel so stuff like that matters to me. That and price ended up killing the deal for me.

People have managed to break them by towing with way too much tongue weight...at speed...over whoops. Not sure any other midsize truck would fare too well in that scenario either. It's a good truck if you want to just buy an off roader without having to upgrade. Nice tires, really nice suspension, plus all that armor is pretty sweet. Price tag not so much. Ranger feels faster, but none of these trucks are actually fast. Buy a mustang if you want speed.

Real difference in the Ranger and Colorado: Col. designed as a cheap, unimportant sales grabber for US Market. Ranger designed in Australia for that market where it is the top truck offering (F one swiftys probably available now) in the Ford lineup.

Anyone old enough to remember when Cadillac concealed the gas caps behind the tail light which pivoted to give access ? Growing up a friend had one of those , I remember playing with it in his garage (pre-adolescent).

Someone at Ford was on the ball when they decided to re-intro the Ranger to the US market given the competition's offerings - aged Frontier , Taco with archaic drive train and the Colorado, well let's just say GM and leave it at that.

Then of course Ford realized what they had and proceeded to mercilessly and brutally wield the decontent hammer.
Went out to Indy 500 100th race in 2016...
Rented $85K Cadillac Escalade .. pulled into some Kansas small town to get gas at station... We were baffled how to open the gas door .. thought for sure on a Cadillac there would be a locking gas door and needed to find the latch or push button to use...
We looked everywhere for 10-15 min or so... Got out the manual in the glove box...started reading trying to search getting gas.... Was searching the internet next... By this time had to take grandboys inside to use bathroom... Asked the big Kansas young man standing behind the counter named Billy(Bob) ... We didn't know how to get gas in our rental... He moseys on out... Walks slowly around to side of 'Caddie'... Just pushes on the side body gas door with one finger and whala!...The gas door opens to access the gas cap.
He looked as us peacefully...and lumbered back inside... I'm sure he thought us as stupid city boys... We still talk about it today.

Maybe I'll drive my new Ranger and go back out to South Dakota for the annual Buffalo Bison run... 1500 head come running pushed by horsemen down the wide open range... Sight to see... Then you go see 'em in the big corrals and settle in to a cowboy lunch....
Colorado Bison are still seen sometimes heading up I70 west to go gamble at Blackhawk ..

When I lived in Denver I'd go catch a couple of CU games each fall, best part of CU football is Ralphie, by far the best mascot in college football. This year Ralphie might be the only reason to go to a CU game.

the '57 Chevy is quite cool, too. I know about this because I (briefly) owned one (engine was in the trunk). I bit off more than I could chew with that purchase, and ended up selling it. (That's not me in the picture)

I won't say creativity is dead, but under the kind of pressure the government is wielding against the auto companies, everything that doesn't contribute directly to improved fuel mileage numbers or bottom line profit is being ruthlessly slashed.

Needless to say, cool, (if somewhat frivolous) features like this have been gone for years. Except for Tesla. Anybody ever seen some of the geeky Easter Eggs in those cars? (But they are almost all software, and thus, nearly free)

Big 10-4! Mrs M. & I went out to Custer State Park for this year's- fourth time we've gone out there for the Buffalo Roundup. Many folks don't know that there are another ~400 head in Wind Cave National Monument adjacent to the south. We often go back in early May to see the red dogs (newborn calves).

"58 Pontiacs were a real challenge. The gas cap was behind the backup light. A lot of B-body Mopars had the filler behind the license plate. The "thing" back then was to eliminate the unsightly fender door.

Don't hear much about him anymore but when I dined at his (Ted Turner) restaurant the menu stated he owned the largest bison herd. Had a customer near Ted's Montana that loved to go to lunch there and I liked the food as well - bison burgers

I researched the Bisons quite a bit back in 2020.

From everything I saw that was an isolated incident that happened to one truck, and a Gladiator, and was most likely user error from towing offroad.

Chevy too. My Monte Carlos and Chevelle were behind the license plate. I always liked that.

It still doesn't bode well for the frame design.
One always expect the engineering to be more robust in every way, to accommodate for the oopsies.
Sucks to those that had this issue as I am sure their mistakes were a big contributor to the end result.
Does it make the whole product line garbage because of an isolated incident...nope, not a chance. But it's still a large black mark to overcome.
Fords not immune to it either.
