Colorado Bison

Just saw this and, honestly, really liked it.... curious on other's thoughts. It was $52k with 7500 miles. Not bad considering the cost new. Anybody have any direct experience with one of these? With the DuraMax diesel?

I have not heard good things about the baby duramax in that thing. It may have the duramax name, but does not have the same build quality or reliability as the v8 duramax's.

I know one guy out here who traded a Z71 diesel Colorado for the ZR2 Bison specifically to get back into a gas motor.

That being said, I did have a Z71 gas motor Colorado as a rental car at one point, was not impressed. Sounded good, but made now power or torque. Merging was a chore.

buddy of mine use to work at chevy and he said the baby durmax is cool but a junk motor... there is a reason they got rid of it...

soo i know the story on that one lol he was pulling a heavy camping trailer and going way to fast in whoops and bent the frame from jumping it basically so it can happen to any of us if we are not smart about what we do

We almost bought a gas non bison version when we were looking. The engine and it's gears just weren't great and the interior was a little crappier than the rangers. We went with the ranger after test driving both.

I do wish we could have got front and rear lockers on the ranger though that would have been great. A maybe a little stronger of an axel!

The 2019 and newer Duramax has revised injectors and appears to be more durable. Earlier model years had a few failures due to stuck injectors. Diesel got the 6 speed automatic which was mostly trouble free with some exceptions.

I came from a 2019 ZR2 with the gas engine to the Ford Ranger. No direct experience with the diesel though. The AEV Bison package was just the ZR2 with different bumpers, grill and additional skid plates. The front and rear electric lockers were nice along with the Mutimatic DSSV shocks.

I traded because the firm seats were causing my back issues to flare up and I was given more in trade for it than I paid when trading to the Ranger Tremor.

A flexible frame from cab to box....Very innovative....Holy Sh*t! Frame cracking of a Ford is not allowed...ever, but bending takes this to a new level.... Must not be a boxed frame like the Ranger...

It is actually boxed and somewhat similar in design to the Ranger. Take a close look at the receiver hitch in use. Essentially, there wasn't enough flex in that setup for overlanding.

Thanks for the clarification.... Nice to see GM copy the Ranger boxed frame. We always knew GM as a "Fast follower"...rarely a inovator.

i like the zr2 s front and rear diff lock option but to be honest 99 % of the time i dont need the rear lock. the electronic stuff works well enough most times. i like the light bar from the factory also. wish rangers had both the front lock up and the light bar. im not a duramax fan. im not saying they are terrible etc. but ive never been able to take them serious when other trucks in the market had solid diesel options with a history of quality. years ago i expected gm to use a small cat engine in the light duty trucks as some of the medium duty trucks they came with optional cat engines. but along came the izuzamax. first ive seen of one having the folding frame option lol. im not defending gm in the least. govt morons and i are not friends. but to be fair id bet some driver abuse was involved in that lil incident. wonder what they did. wonder if its covered by warranty

The front end and general body lines of that truck are just so ugly.

Headlights look like something on a Saturn Ion or Chevy Cobalt.

Lets not forget the patented square wheel wells. Woopie!

I think that if you are ever in a situation that you really need a front locker you’re in the wrong terrain with the wrong vehicle, for those situations you should be in an ATV!

The bed sits too high......No way I could reach in the back for anything............I'd buy it anyways then have to trade it off..............
