I can’t seem to figure this out. I’ve attached a video of what is happening… is it lifter tick? Something with the turbo? It doesn’t happen any other time other then very throttle. I’m so confused lol

I just realized that you have to be listening real close... but it doesn't happen at idle or anything else, only happens when I put my foot in it.

I’m not hearing it but I’m sure you can. :(

It’s really hard with all the background noise the phone picks up that really isn’t noticed by the human ear. Mine growls like mad when I get my foot in it (stock exhaust) but I haven’t heard any “clicking”. Maybe it’s just what the mighty 2.3L Singer Ranger powerhouse sounds like under WOT.

I can hear some creaking right at the beginning and then a little later but I was expecting to hear something that clicked in sync with the rise in rpm of the motor - is it the creaking you’re referring to?

I am wondering if that could be a Cat converter? Does it do it on cold start too? I hear it though but hard to say.

I hear possible accelerator pedal (clicking) like a clock and then the blow off of the turbo at the end of the video - similar to air brakes releasing pressure

At (KOEO) Key on engine off, press the pedal to the floor and hold it, Waste Gate should cycle, do you hear the clicking?
Its hard to really tell for sure but its so subtle that I think its in the interior of the cab and the most likely would be the accelerator pedal, another would be to check the wastegate actuator rod, is there any noted play in it?

Outside of the above, not secured exhaust heat shield is a possible or a very small exhaust leak blowing onto them,

Exhaust manifold or exhaust side of the turbo? Y2k F150s would develop a sharp, snapping or clicking sound that rose and fell with RPM. Louder on acceleration and barely audible on deceleration.

that’s basically it. It only happens over 80% load and it isn’t noticeable any other time. Even just revving the engine, nada. It’s the wildest thing

Pretty sure these exhaust manifolds are integrated into the head. But it could be a turbo leak on the exhaust side.

Another possible external noise would be the VCT cam phasers.

Pretty sure I have the same noise only when I go wide open throttle but at the same time the truck bucks, like loss of drive. I don't know if it's the transmission bogging or originally I thought it was associated with my EGR problem but the Bucking is much more violent at wide open throttle

Almost sounds like a loose heat shield but much louder and then the transmission or the truck losing its acceleration kind of drove me away from a loose heat shield.
With that being said I have not gone underneath the truck and poked around looking for something loose

I haven’t looked at the wastegate rod. I’ll have to check that

theres some play in the actuator rod but I just checked the heat shield and nothing
