Anyone speculating what hastens the failure of this sensor in these cases?

Did you have problems before? If so, did this fix helped?
I was having the beginnings of the sensor failing, I believe. When the engine was warming up, I was starting to get some light bucking cruising from 30-50 like others have said. Just felt like the engine fell on its face for a split second. I haven’t had to chance to go for a drive yet. Was going to let the engine cool back down and try this evening.

Bad part is my truck is just shy of 19,000 miles.

If you had went for a drive immediately after the replacement, you'd notice the fix right away...why would cooling down the engine be a consideration? If it happens while it's hot after the sensor replacement, then it didn't work...which means you have a different problem...my replacement fixed all traces of bucking/hesitation hot or cold...

No, I haven’t had a chance to go for a drive yet. I replaced the sensor and started the truck back up to make sure all was well, but I work from home and had to get back to the grind.

After reading here I realized I had this problem as well. I have 60,500 miles on my truck and I don’t know how long it’s been going on. I just new to hit the gas if it started acting up. So I ordered a new one from Levitown Ford, installed it today and did a little 10 mile test drive and no more issue.
Took me 20 minutes, only needed the tools in the photo and a little step ladder for easier access. Quick and easy fix.
Thanks for all the info.

I am leaning towards this being a every 25k-35k replacement part for me. I replaced it at 46k and the bucking was pretty bad. I am at 69k now and am starting to feel the early symptoms. I'll probably get the cheaper part number and put the hoses from the one I took off onto it before swapping.

It only takes 10-20 minutes if you don't drop the socket into the engine compartment and spend two hours trying to find it. Don't ask how I know.

replacement fixed my issue right away. This is after going to the dealership who diagnosed other issues and wanted to charge $3500 to fix with no promise of it being fixed.

Interesting.....I have just under 25,000 on mine, and I just came here to read up on some transmission threads after mine seems to be acting particularly moody over the last 100-300 miles.

I have noticed a few quirks since I bought it last year (mostly some slight bucking and jerking when starting from cold...and a handfull of odd shifts around 35mph), but it definitely seems to be increasingly noticeable lately. I had a very hard, clunking shift yesterday when I put it in drive...which was the first time it's done that, but when coupled with other things, I think I'm officially beginning to worry.

From start up to leaving the drive way I sometimes notice a bit of a gentle buck when picking up speed from 15-30mph. Is this the bucking y'all are talking about or an early sign? Doesn't happen often but once in a while when I'm pulling out from the drive way and slowly adding gas.
I notice this with mine pretty regularly.

Good thing it's a cheap and easy fix. I bought the whole assembly the first time but now that it is double the price and just the module is way cheaper, I will put the hoses from the one I took off the first time onto the cheaper part the next time I do it.

Huge thanks to everyone in this thread, replaced my sensor as well and no more low speed bouncing around and my rough 1st gear idle went away too. The old sensor had noticeable moisture inside it. Saved me a ton of money because who knows if ford would of figured this out or not. Downside is price definitely jumped up - got mine for 126$ (Canada).

$94 USD for just the sensor?! That's high...the sensor alone in US is $12 plus shipping...the sensor assembly with new hose/bracket/clamps is $80 + shipping...
