It's been awhile since I've been here. I have a 2019 Ford Ranger. I have been seeing the sleep mode more often, and think the battery is going. I've never had any problems with the truck.
I was going to get the battery checked at NAPA or AutoZone and probably have to replace the battery. I want to save the truck settings, and perhaps upgrade the battery. I've read where that may not be worth it. With Ford limiting the storage to 70% on a lead acid battery and the need for a mostly charged AGM. Can I have your thoughts and experience. Appreciate any input.

It won’t lose any settings or anything except for the driver window function which is easy to fix. I switched my battery to lead/acid after seeing a few problems with AGM. It’s been great ever since.
Thanks for the reply. I'll bet you saved me some problems. Did you have to register the new battery?

I have an OBD-2 adaptor for maintaining voltage in the vehicle while the battery is disconnected. Also, after replacing the battery, run the battery monitor reset procedure in the BCM. Easy with Forscan.

When you used the OBD-2 adaptor, did you attach it to a separate 12 volt battery, or a 12 volt power constant source? I've seen cables and attachments for both. And I've seen where individuals attached a power source to the battery terminals while exchanging batteries eliminating the OBD port.

Yes, I connect the 12V accessory plug into my Jackery and then connect to the OBD2 port. Once that is all connected, I turn on the power at the Jackery. While working with the battery you must be very careful with the positive terminal to prevent it shorting to ground.

Thanks Node. I appreciate the advice. I'm not a truck jockey...so I have to be careful. One small step at a time. I've seen lots of ideas, I just need to figure out the best way.

Really, the only thing you need to do is re-train the window. That's it. It took 40 seconds maybe? It took less time to re-train the window than it would have taken me to walk into the garage, lay hands on my auxiliary battery/memory saver pigtail, walk back to the truck, and plug it in.
