Ford's models as a whole have to meet EPA goals, so to keep having V8 Mustangs they need to squeeze even more cleanliness out of the other models to allow the excess of that car. Auto-Stop/Start helps with the numbers they are targeting, and the rules they have to comply with require, default mode on car start, so if you could change its default mode, they likely couldn't use that test or "number credit" of the feature. I get that it sucks, but they left it simple enough to work around in the truck (test lights in trailer connector, or even small charger in 110V plug, turn on tow/haul mode), or you could even get a 3rd party module that pressed the button for you after you start the vehicle (I recall that being a topic on the RS forums).Well... 1st thing I do when I get in the truck is turn off the "Auto Start / Stop"... makes zero sense for a guy in Central Colorado. Pretty damn stupid of Ford to force such a stupid option onto their customers.
