True but the mirror isn't a simple set up especially if you have the road camera there. I've read complaints that if you attach it to the stock mirror it rattles. Personally I like the "normal" cams as the instals are easy and for someone like me (who's not the best at wiring) simple is better or there could be trouble. lol 🔥
Mine doesn't rattle at all...I agree, addition of front/rear cam does require more work...but that's why most folks come here to find ways to spend money and add more work to their Ranger...

How about a Wolfbox setup?

I have to admit after driving my wife's GMC that has a mirror/camera from the factory, I want one for my Ranger! The "mirror" is bright (dims at night of course) and has an unobstructed view of the rear all the time (not just backing up). The Wolfbox also offers a front facing dashcam. Does require you wire the rear camera unless you can piggyback to the OEM camera wiring.

There is a much quicker, easier option that is plug and play with wireless cameras (plural). Has dashcam feature. Cameras are wireless and battery powered using Solar to keep them topped up. If you do use them as an on-demand dash cam that keeps the camera's always on, the battery should last a while before they need to recharge. You have to read YouTube reviews to get an idea of that. But if you want true plug and play with just a 12-volt socket to power the dashboard unit, this is it.

I've got the Next base GW622 in Soupie and my wife's CX-5. Both setups also have the rear cam. The price has vcome way down. It was $499 when I bought it a few years ago - now it's $249.

It's done well over the last three years, no complaints. We don't have the heat problem that some dashcam owners have since this is New England.

here's my install, including bashing my skull on the supercab rear door's roof bail.

Hey, 7 concussions where I've blacked out for over a minute, what's a bash on the skull?!? =D

You’re absolutely right about wiring in the rear and bumper cameras. That’s not so simple and it’s not for everyone.

Rattling is definitely something I thought about when I chose to install my Wolfbox to the existing mirror. To minimize that happening, I sandwiched a piece of tool box drawer liner (the thin foam rubber kind) between my OEM mirror and the Wolfbox. It also protects the OEM mirror from any potential scratches.

Would it rattle if the drawer liner wasn’t there? I don’t know. Will it rattle off-road. I don’t know that either but I’ve taken my crawler to the mall a couple of times - didn’t even slow down for some of the obstacles and no problems so far.

Okay, after sitting on the fence for a few days and looking at many Dash Cams. I ordered the FItcamX for the Ranger. Is it the best probably not. Did it have everything I wanted, nope.
It is a clean installation though.
Let us know how the install goes and pics of the final install.

FITCAMX dashcam

Finished Install. Not too bad of an install. Mostly plug and play.
I've uploaded some photos. Don't expect a National Geographical photographer!
The back camera's 3M tape I slotted to miss the heat tape.
More testing needed on performance.

Looks good, If I decide to get one - I don't like adhering anything to the back glass.

Possibly find a way to make a bracket or hook to secure it to the window trim, like a hanger bracket (over the top) and then secure the cam to the bracket of course something that would be secure and not bounce around.

Does it look possible to modify something off the shelf and a later 3D printed item - Just an idea vs the heated window damage as well as it falling off when heat is applied.

I slotted the 3M pad where the heat tape runs so the adhesive pad doesn’t cover heat tape for now. Not sure on the permanent bracket install yet.
