Axle Shaft / Lift Install Advice, Thanks!

I’ve watched over a dozen different videos last Friday and Saturday night and I like this one the best except for the hammer on the axle direct. That’s a big no-no, you can use a 2 x 4 piece of wood or a little aluminum scrap and hit that with the hammer befor you hit the axle shaft direct.

Yep. I was surprised he did that. I'm installing my Eibach kit later this week and bought replacement axle nuts. When replacing the nut, you can back the old one off enough so that the head of the nut is just protruding past the shaft, then take a dead blow hammer to it.

Now again……. Now that I have removed the axle nut and push the axle shaft in last Sunday, it’s crazy insanely easy to do………. It did take me over two hours of driving around trying to find a 35 mm socket though…..lol………….. can’t wait to do the homework and look at all the pages and previous topics in here about how big of a tire can I fit in there with a 3 inch lift…..lol.

Learned i needed to check the torque spec before i take stuff off, my damn shocks need 407ft-lbs
To think i hated dealing with macpherson-struts, the front shock change on this truck was a pain.

Also since mine has iwe, putting the axle back into the hub was sketchy as you need to make sure all the splines get in right.

Something i was taught was to keep the nut on the thread when breaking off the spindle/tie rod cause you can damage the threads without it when it releases.

407lbs seems like too much. Do they even make torque wrenches that high? or do you need a torque multiplier?

used my air impact to get it snug then used my buddys tq wrench that was able to go to 500ft-lbs help me out.
Highest ever tq ive ever put on something lol, i think my ranger was under 100 ft-lbs for the lower when i threw on the fox 2.5s

The only thing close to that torque value is the axle nut.

Are you referring to this below?

I did notice that they list some torque values as inch pounds (lbs.in) instead of ft-lbs. I couldn't find anything with the 407 number though.

It's not. Nowhere close.

The axle nut isn't even that tight IIRC.

If I gotta get a torque wrench to get the job done either way I’m doing the LCA. No need to disassemble the whole dang knuckle if I need an alignment anyway
