Hi, new member here with a new '21 XLT/FX4 302A package. Just wanted to post a link to a vid showing how to disable autostop/start at the battery. Involves just unplugging a connector on the neg. terminal of the battery. Supposedly doesn't affect any other systems.
I apologize if this is already common knowledge, but I didn't see anything about this on the forum. I tried it on mine and it seemed to work without any untoward effects elsewhere.
This is a great forum that's provided me with A LOT of Ranger info. Thanks.

I don't understand why people are so obsessed with turning off this feature?

Op, enjoy your truck, this is a great forum.
I had a rental truck once that had this "feature" and I didn't notice. When I stopped at a light and the engine "died" I freaked the f' out. quickly figured it out but first thought was that I didn't want that in any car I owned. probably won't go as far as adding the autostop killer thingy widgit but will try the night light hack

I had this unplugged for about 5 months. Then I used Forscan and disabled it there and boosted my alternator charge to 90% of battery capacity from the factory 75%. BMS is connected again and things are just fine.

What does doing this do to your warranty?

OK I did this at the battery terminal and it worked. But I was having issues with a parasitic draw back then and they couldn't do a complete test on the vehicle. The idiot should've just plugged it back in and did that test but that's the dealership I'm working with. So I found a way to do it another way.
Take out the switch for the auto start stop and put a little jumper wire between the purple and the white purple with a stripe on it. This did not work for me at first so I paid $80 for the auto start stop eliminator switch.
It did not work at first either and then I emailed the company/guy he responded that it only works when you have the auto start stop engaged. So I engaged it and the switch has worked flawlessly.
I believe all as it is is a jumper wire inside this little connector that's built into the little harness that plugs between the switch and the factory harness.
With that being said, Have your jumper wire and it will take around a number 18 gauge I believe, to make it hold fast. Something like a doorbell wire which is a solid wire.
Once you make sure that wire fits, turn the truck on and disable the auto start stop and then plug the jumper wire in. It should work flawlessly. Let me know if you go this route. Remember it's the white wire with the purple stripe because there are two white wires there.

Nothing that I know of. Unless they look into your BCM line by line they will never know you changed it. As far as battery capacity. When disconnecting at battery as in video above your alternator charges to 100% because there is no system feedback on status. After 5 months of that if there were a problem would have surfaced by now.
