If I had known that I could disable it through Forscan, I would have gotten it as soon as I got the truck in July 2023 instead of this past march

you can always go back to it and select 1-on(Default)

As much fun as these trucks are in S mode, I am on my third transmission at 113k miles and don't want to go through two tanks of gas a week.

Me as well. For those who have a pc laptop and access to amazone to get the scan tool, itll cost less than $100 total and you wont ever have to look at the button again

No that the EPA no longer mandates this stupid auto stop/start system, is there new FORScan or Ford software update to turn it off? I see the 2027 F-150 will NOT have it installed!

While you in there set your battery state of charge (SOC) up to 95% - 100%. It's set at 70% for XL and XLT trims, and 75% for Lariets, If you really want to extend the life of your battery.

I have mine set at 100% and I'm still on my original battery in my 2020 Ranger. Of course I made these changes (plus adding a BatteryMinder Onboard Desulfator) within a year of purchase after the first (and only) low battery warning.

70% - 75% is really unacceptable for battery health, causing rapid battery sulfation and higher internal battery resistance, i.e, failure....

Sure am glad mine came with the A.S.S delete from the factory. I never had to mess with it. When I drive the escape we used to have I just made it a habit to turn it off. And the mustang is a 6 speed so no ass there. Except mine.

I’m thinking the nightlight would be a good option, if the outlet times out after shutdown. I have 12v in the bed, and it times out after 30 minutes. I knew the A.S.S. could be disabled with Forscan, but I thought that disabled the BMS too, just like pulling the negative battery plug.

I wish the government would get the hell out of our vehicles. Don’t even get me going on the sunshade warning stickers!

Oh yeah, i set mine to charge to 95% the same time i set ASS to off with Forscan. So far so good, 4 years and still going. Lets see how long I push this lol.

Yeah...someone already brought that up in the beginning of this post. I'm not pushing a button 10 to 15 times a day. I bought a tuner. Got a better driving truck and it deleted the auto start stop.

Battery system??? It is a simple unplug at the neg Battery terminal. Could not be easier. Make it complicated if you want to.

It does more than disabling Auto Start/Stop. Disconnecting it will also disable the Battery Management System that controls battery charging and presumably extends battery life and helps fuel economy.

Are you sure about that? My 2020 has been unplugged for 5 years with no issues.

The keyword here is "presumably".

I see the SOC target shift over time. It drops all by itself. It may say SOC = 100%, but I dynamically monitor my battery charging patterns, and have witnessed it drop to 94%, then lower to 90%. I can see the charge rate simply drop to 0 when it reaches the SOC 100% initially, but over time it has slowly dropped to 94%. I do not like that behavior. And I do not believe that it was designed to do it. I consider it a bug, and correct it when i see it happening.

Yes, I am sure. There are other threads here that discuss it in detail. Its function is to calculate the battery state of charge. One reason is to make sure the battery has enough charge to restart the engine if ASS has stopped it. If there is not enough battery charge, it disables Auto Start Stop. But it also is used to control the charging rate of the battery. When you unplug the BMS, the state of charge can no longer be known.
