Anyone know what this is?

I don't know why all receivers do not have a threaded hole with a bolt for the anti-rattle feature. Mine is similar to this and works like a charm with no extra parts to lose.

I use this type of thing, there are many different designs, but essentially the pin is a bolt, and a nut/spring goes inside the receiver tube. You put it all together and tighten up the bolt to lock the receiver in place so it won't rattle.

I have the one you describe, and like it, but this one is just an offset plate with the U-clamp that applies tension between the hitch and tow bar. I did not like it because the edge is so sharp it can dig a furrow in the tow bar.

I don't have that particular one. I have 2, 1 for a 2 inch and another 1.5 inch receiver, and they both have a spring/nut that slides into the receiver tube, and a bolt thingie.
