I was looking at both when I was shopping around. Went with an XLT 301A package 4X4 without the locker. Sport w/black package.

I wanted LED headlights but once seeing how much more it was to get them and a bunch of stuff I had no need for I decided against the Lariat. Even if I went with the most expensive aftermarket LED headlights I would still be way ahead.

Good sir,

Which model did you buy to get 1,850$ for annual fuel cost? ?

I didn't know. The Explorer has no key at all with the push button. I know I read it somewhere I didn't just make it up.
Aren't they the same ? Seems a huge liability if Ford did not allow you access to the vehicle

So I currently have a 2023 Lariat Tremor with 500A on order. I'm beginning to have second thoughts because of the uncertainty of getting the LED headlights and fog lights. It's pretty much the only reason I ordered the Lariat. And I would hate to have to walk away and start a whole new order. I'm considering dropping my order to an XLT Tremor with 302A. It would save me $1500 which would probably end up being the cost to upgrade to LED headlights after the fact. Not really interested in any of the aftermarket LED headlights. And I would probably go Diode Dynamics for the fogs.

So outside of leather seats, push button start and power folding mirrors, is there anything major I would be losing by dropping to the XLT with the 302A?? I know there are some smaller changes like ambient lighting and body colored exterior bits. But it seems like most everything else standard on the Lariat 500A is included in the XLT 302A

Did any of you regret going with an XLT over a Lariat???
If the prime reason was the headlights, it appears you've answered your question. The cost savings gets you what Ford has taken away.

I have an XLT 302a bought the demo so Lariat wasn't really an option for me. But glad I got the XLT still. Even though I have added a LOT of Lariat option, see my signature.

I do prefer the XLT instrument cluster, but I am sure I would have gotten used to the Lariat version.

The $1500 delta you are looking at is really nothing in the big picture - get the one you like better!

I regret not getting the Tremor Pkg on my Lariat if that helps.

XLT with a 301A package. Has everything I need. I don not like a whole bunch of the electronics so the lower grade package was perfect for me. No regrets. I got some Auxito bulbs off amazon, headlight problem fixed. I do have push button start which is nice in the winter.

No regrets on my XLT. It’s more than luxurious for me. I actually wish I got the xl or stx. I don’t need all that fancy stuff. Base models have less wires and electronics to deal with. I got the xlt cause my wife drives it sometimes so it is easier for her. Plus I wanted the safety features for the baby

For those of you commenting about the Lariat package being worth it because of the LED if you read my post the only reason I'm considering switching to the XLT is because there is a risk that I may not get LED headlights. Some Lariats are shipping without LED headlights and giving a pathetic $500 credit. The LED headlights are the biggest reason I went with the Lariat. The rest really doesn't matter either way.

Honestly, With the aftermarket choices cheaper and some Better then the factory lamps You will more then fine in an XLT, Leather seats are a no go for me, my damn dogs would have them turn to shit in no time, Why have leather seats if you are gonna cover them up is my thought process on that, I also am one of the guys that does not like the Lariat gauge cluster as well. The xlt one is exactly what I wanted simple and easy to read, I had the lariat gauges were the same as my Wife's edge Sport and I could not stand them when I was driving. Just me tho some guys like the layout of it.

XLT 302A has heated mirros. Guessing you didn't go with the 302A.
Sure did.
Are you a salesman? My salesman said the same thing.:like:

The one I would like better would be the Lariat with LED headlights. It's isn't a matter of the $1500 savings. It's going with the Lariat and have it end up with halogen lights. Then I've pretty much wasted the extra money for the Lariat. That's where my debate comes in. Chance ordering the Lariat or just get the XLT and add LED headlights and fogs later.

None whatsoever - never even considered the Lariat - this thread almost makes it sound like people “settled“ for an XLT, rather than purchased just what they were looking for. I like all the trim levels but the XLT is best suited to me and my needs - @AzScorpion on the other hand, takes epic month-long vacations in his truck and needs all the creature comforts of the Lariat for the thousands of highway miles he’s logged and he really needs the FX4 package for his off-road antics. He’d definitely suffer from FOMO if he had my truck, but not me - love it!

Fun Fact: a SuperCab Ranger is not available in Lariat trim in Canada. At least not the MY19.

I spent $400 adding Lariat LED headlights, but they each had a broken tab. BUT that was 2 yrs ago, so maybe used prices have come down.

and yes the LED headlights are awesome

Well that's something you should work out with your dealer. Without the LEDs they look like my old 1990s Crown Vic. Actually my Lariat has things like the perimeter alarm that I am not sure is on the xlt and other features that really cut the cost to insure down. I have a 8 year zero deductible warranty with LED coverage from the factory so any problems it costs nothing to fix. In an accident and the insurance company has to replace the LEDs. With aftermarket they may not if you don't declare them on your policy. Also from what I understand states are considering inspection rules that don't allow aftermarket LEDs because some are blinding and not approved. I would sit down with the dealer and get in writing the terms you are comfortable with. Ford knows without LED Ranger Lariat sales will drop so I am betting there will be many available with LEDs.
