Retired, work is a four letter word.
Depending on your height, not having keys dangling off the column could be a thing. Test drove an XLT and noped right out of that. Would've driven me nuts. Happy with my Lariat.
I don't have any other keys on the fob, only a leather tag, I hate keys swinging and banging around, other than that I am good with the XLT 302A.

Love the Lariat. The LED lights are worth the package all on their own. They are simply amazing.

I could do without the leather.

I will say that I am one to like the push button. I really do. It has grown into something I prefer. Never have to take the FOB out of my pocket. Now... before you all call me lazy... it aint that. I just really like it.

I am also in the crowd that doesn't mind the dash. Dont understand what all the fuss is about regarding it. But its cool... we all have our thing.

I have no regrets with the Lariat.

I will also say that I am impatient. Once I settled on a Ranger, I shoped the entire north end of my state till I found one. I am not one to order and wait months... just saying.

Only reason we purchased lariot was for the LED Lights. The pricing to install after market was worth the value of the upgraded trim for us. The rest of the stuff that came was just fluff. I do like the push button start though because I generally have my keys in a bag or something.

I went with the Lariat for LED headlights, push button start, nice wheels, and resale value. After getting used to the gauge cluster I love how you can set one side for navigation with the speed limit showing.

I'm glad I don't have the push button start. Someone on here got locked out or stranded or something when the battery went dead in the fob.

I wasn't interested in any of the Lariat features although the stock headlights were worse than I expected. I put in some LED bulbs to improve them a good amount.

I got tired of waiting for the XLT that I ordered and ended up finding the same truck in Lariat at a dealer.

I'm glad it worked out the way it did.

You'll have a better soundsystem. I didn't think I'd want the ACC, but I like it. Also, I like the blindspot sensors in the sideview mirrors...especially if you get a topper. Leather.

At first, for the money, I didn't want a Lariat because I didn't think it was worth the money for leather and a nice radio, which WERE really the only Lariat features that appealed to me. But after having the full Lariat package, I'm definitely happy with it.

Be aware that LED headlights/taillights are not actually an "upgrade".

They offer no real advantage in function or effectiveness.
Say Whaaaaat ? LOL

This thread reminds me of overhearing a conversation once where a dude was explaining to his friend why he married the fat girl instead of the hottie he dated in college.
It boiled down to the hottie was more expensive, lol

If you keep your vehicles a really long time, I feel like the less bells and whistles the better. My 2003 Moutaineer AWD Premier is loaded (and with real leather seats), and with 122,000 original miles on it, I would never compalin.... but I found over the years, there's a lot of stuff I don't even use. For that reason, I didn't look at the Lariat ... so I got the XLT with 302A package. Power operated seats were a must have.... doesn't have the seat position memory buttons like my Mountaineer though and that's one feature I definitely miss.

I'm not positive about the ford key fob since I have an XLT, but you shouldn't ever be locked out even if the battery is dead. The fob has a backup key inside it that you can take out in these instances and get into the car.

This is just weird and does not go along with the reality:
  • The Lariat key fob has an actual key hidden inside, and the driver side door has a keyhole. You can unlock the driver door even with a dead fob.
  • There is even a procedure for starting the push to start ignitiion with a dead fob. It is in the manual. You place the key fob in one of the cup holders, where the truck can sense the RFID chip passively (without the fob having power) and the truck will start.

The only things I wish the XLT had are power folding mirrors, the B&O sound system, and maybe the built in garage door opener. Definitely not worth the $2500.

I didn't know. The Explorer has no key at all with the push button. I know I read it somewhere I didn't just make it up.

My Subaru has this & used both, getting in & starting the car when FOB did not work.
I like my 302A , I would have liked the push button since I got used of it in the BRZ.
I don't like leather. Wife wanted heated seats, would have liked B&O sound but oh well, have folding mirrors, used once or twice, would have liked heated mirrors, I like the dash display, like
the grill like the color, kinda ok with tires, like the color, like the SCAB, not crazy about the chrome,
would have liked HIDs(BRZ has that WOW!!!), ACC fine, bolts are good, still there, oil seems to have to be changed on a reoccuring time line WTF?! & so does the gas.

Well, that was mostly useless...

Have yourselves a great long weekend!
