I never thought I'd like leather seats till I had leather seats. Now I'll never own a vehicle without them. I have power folding mirrors on my 21 XLT. And I've never felt like I needed better lighting.
Says the person who lives in a warm climate. You should park your truck in a meat freezer overnight then see how you feel about it.

I didn't know. The Explorer has no key at all with the push button. I know I read it somewhere I didn't just make it up.
I have had a Focus ST, two Mustangs and now the Ranger with push button start and they have all had a key inside the fob for backup. I can't imagine that the Explorer doesn't. The older fobs require you to use a coin to split the case like you were changing batteries to get at the key, not a push button that lets you pull it out of the fob.like now. Also, in the case of the Mustangs they had a body colored cover over where the key hole is in the door handle that has to be removed.

FWIW, just looked up an 18 Explorer user manual and the backup key pops out of the fob just like the Rangers does.

I live where it often goes below 0 in the winter and can go over 100 in the summer. Never had an issue with leather seats being to hot or to cold, maybe it's because I don't sit on the seats bare ass.
My last 6 vehicles have had leather and I too will not buy another vehicle without it.

So I'm a little confused with some of the responses about the Lariat gauges cluster. The XLT has an analog speedo and tach with a digital display in the middle. So do all Lariats have the analog speedo in the middle with the two digital displays on either side??

If you look at the build and price when you move up to the 501A package you get this.

I was assuming that if you didn't get the 501A Lariat package that it would have the two analog gauges with the digital display in the middle like the XLT. If that's not the case what does the instrument cluster look like in the Lariat with just the standard 500A package??
Pretty sure all Lariats have the same instrument cluster.

The once I considered was a 501A. I didn't look at any others.

I ordered and waited 3 mos for my XLT pckg 302A. It had everything I wanted. Dual zone climate, heated seats, pwr fold mirrors and so on. Probably the main reason I didn't do the lariat was I did not want leather, hated the instrument cluster and wasn't real fond of the grill. No regrets.
DITTO! Love my Cyber Orange XLT with the black appearance package!

Did any of you regret going with an XLT over a Lariat???
I just hate Lariat chrome, and I like the base sound system is better than the B&O sound system. Leather seats have proven to be problematic if you got that option.

So that was it and why I stuck to XLT. To me, Lariats were vastly overpriced for options that were not any good.

If you asked me, the LED headlights are the actual ONLY good thing the lariat had going for it.

Hey @Garemlin ,

Yes, with the XLT, you get this…

Thanks for posting that Gooby ( Gooby ? gotta be a story there)
I guess we need to call the "Lariat" Cluster the "Lariat 501a"

Anyway I always have the digital speedo in the center on mine - exactly 9 miles over in NC and you are "safe"
IMHO the analog gauges always look better, even if they don't get used much (Tach on an Auto Trans? But useful for idle RPM, and like I said I use the digital speedo)

The Lariat 501a ?cluster "productivity screens" look way to busy to me.

I'm not a fan of chrome at all. But I'm getting a Tremor so that's moot.

So I currently have a 2023 Lariat Tremor with 500A on order. I'm beginning to have second thoughts because of the uncertainty of getting the LED headlights and fog lights. It's pretty much the only reason I ordered the Lariat. And I would hate to have to walk away and start a whole new order. I'm considering dropping my order to an XLT Tremor with 302A. It would save me $1500 which would probably end up being the cost to upgrade to LED headlights after the fact. Not really interested in any of the aftermarket LED headlights. And I would probably go Diode Dynamics for the fogs.

So outside of leather seats, push button start and power folding mirrors, is there anything major I would be losing by dropping to the XLT with the 302A?? I know there are some smaller changes like ambient lighting and body colored exterior bits. But it seems like most everything else standard on the Lariat 500A is included in the XLT 302A

No not at all. I didn't want a Lariat because I don't like leather seats. I put Auxito led head & fog lamp bulbs so they are very bright. My XLT came with a FX4 Sport Package, technology package, remote start, electronic locking rear differential, spray bedliner, rear sliding window, heated seats, navigation, & terrain management. I like the XLT grille better. I don't have signal mirrors or keyless start which I can live without. The only thing i wish i had that my XLT didnt come with is heated mirrors. Overall im very happy with my decision.

The Lariat does not come with chrome, it has body colored bumpers just like the XLT and they both come with bright trim on the grill. Chrome package is an extra cost option on both XLT and Lariat.

Well there you have it. The XLT owners did their research and are happy with what they got.
It looks like the same can be said for the Lariat owners.

Some like leather, others don’t. Same to be said for push-button start, cluster, LED lighting, etc…. People even went with different colours! Interesting perspectives and personal opinions.

I think we can all agree on upgrading to black 1pc lug nuts and adding the tailgate damper.

Good to do your homework. If there is that one Lariat feature you MUST have, you may be able to add it to an XLT aftermarket (leather, upgraded stereo, lighting).
