Aftermarket Remote Start suggestions

Just purchased a new 2021 Ford Ranger STX that doesn't have remote start on it. I've searched previous threads but haven't seen a real clear answer on which aftermarket unit will work with Fordpass. I really want to have that option on top of any fob options. Whatcha recommend? TIA

Hi Scott. I have the Ford Pass app and can remote start my truck with it. I also have the Start-X module that will let me remote my truck with my 3 button key fob. Installing the Start-X did not remove the ability to remote start the truck with the Ford Pass app.

Fordpass start is different than traditional remote start. What makes you believe that one affects the other?

I guess because of the aftermarket options that do or don't include the module for starting over the internet through their application. I couldn't find anything documented that said the Start-X module would link to the vehicles Fordpass

I am not familiar with all the aftermarket options, but I don’t see how anything would work with Fordpass other than the Fordpass Connect features that come from the factory.

You should be able to use ford pass without it..... they are not connected in any way.

I assume starting with ford pass is available on all trucks? I have a Lariat.

I use the start-x from Amazon, and it doesnt effect my fordpass remote start. I dont use it often though during summer. It was more for a winter thing.

I have a 2021 STX also. It doesn't have remote start with the fob, but you can remote start the truck using Ford Pass app. Nothing more needed unless you want the ability to remote start using the key fob.

Have the StartX on my XLT. Use FordPass to remote start daily M-F for work rides. The fob works independently and is also flawless on its starts with a pretty darn good range. The listing says it doesn’t work with the Ranger but I’m here to say that’s not true! Get it, you’ll be happy you did.

Only other options is the Ford branded perimeter module as a boosted security feature and the remote start. That’s twice as much as the StartX unit?

I'm leaning towards getting the startx one also because sometimes the app messes up. I tried starting it in while I was in the store and wouldn't do it. However, the thing I really like about the app is you can extend the remote start time when it's about to shut off. I don't think you'll be able to do that with the fob one. I usually take my dog with me on errands and the remote start is a must for me one way or the other.
