That's where the 10th speaker goes in the Lariat 501A B&O premium audio system. In all other trucks they must cover it with a piece of plastic. It should be a simple fix to stop it rattling. At 07:00 he talks about a plastic piece on the dash behind the storage bin that rattles really bad on rough terrain. I have not heard of this complaint before. Has anyone else seen or heard of this problem?
Thanks for posting it. This makes me feel a LOT better about the transmission pan. Previously, I had seen postings stating there was no skid plate on the transmission (which there isn't) and that it has a plastic pan (which it does). In this video you can see the transmission is pretty well protected. It sits at least a couple inches above the bottom of the frame and has some other metal protecting it (not sure what they were). Unless you happened to drive over a bendy branch that came back and smacked the transmission pan it seems like it is pretty well protected to me.Don't remember seeing this one, if I uploaded it correctly. They actually lift the FX4 and walk under it. Posting 242 in this forum, right at the beginning backs a 4x4 over a camera showing the underside.
It's tucked up there, but I can see a rock or branch getting it. It's probably the first thing I'm going to change. I'll build a 1/4" steel plate to go from the front skid to the next crossmember, or I'll get a metal trans pan if one is available. Thanks for posting it. One of the things the early marketing videos showed was that they tucked everything up inside the frame. That really impressed me. None of the other competitors do that. In fact, I think the Tacomas effective ground clearance is the same or maybe slightly less than the Ranger due to their crossover pipe hanging down. But maybe they measure the ground clearance from the bottom of that crossover pipe. I still like how they did a nice job tucking everything inside the frame.
I will be interested to see what you come up with if you build a plate for it.It's tucked up there, but I can see a rock or branch getting it. It's probably the first thing I'm going to change. At least he admitted he was an idiot.....More money than sense. I needed a good chuckle today. This filled my needs.
