hope it didn't disrupt your elk hunt, but then again I spend some $$ every year and haven't gotten any in a few yrs, but where I live herds pass thru my backyard frequently, before the rut some over 80 strong.

Wow that's crazy! Glad your ok and were able to save your motor home. I have seen a few vehicle fires and they can be intense!

Iappreciate everyones input I will definatly post what I learn hopefully insurance can find out???? I do lean against a brake locking up due to absolutely no burndt brake smell. The fire was initially confined just under the hood only spead aft once it got fully engulfed bed of truck had no damage. Initially smoke looked more gray than black if that means anything....

i looked at the picture a bit more and noticed that the area i circled looks different on my truck. not burned up of course, but i dont think mine has that bracket. whats that ? im asking since it may have been to do with something aftermarket electrical.

Sorry for your loss and I'm glad nobody was hurt.

I was looking at the picture and wondered, where's your hood and front fenders? Then noticed they were molten pools of aluminum under the truck.
Did a quick search, aluminum melts at 1221 F (660.32 C)
Copper melts at 1984 F (1085 C)
That's a pretty hot fire.
wondering if the wind generated by driving highway speeds stoked the fire like a forge, causing it to burn hotter than it normally would if it was stationary?

Again, Glad nobody was hurt.

Questions for Elkhuner, from OK to near Gainesville, FL, how many stops along the way did you make & did you disconnect & drive tow vehicle at any of them?

Just curious.

I just list my ford ranger while towing it behind my rv. Anyone else heard of this happening. For the record I followed all the procedures and got the indication it was in neutral tow mode. I
Just curious, do you use a dual channel dashcam when you drive an RV? I know lots who do.

I have never owned a "DRIVING CAMPER", but I've towed many back in the day. In my Ranger I do currently use a dual channel dash cam.

You never know these days when that will be useful in a "he said, they said" situation.
