Any indication where the fire started at. I've seen several and usually one of two places, either engine compartment from an electrical source, or more common, brakes locked up for some reason, overheated and fire started. It dosen't take but a few minutes for a locked or dragging brake to heat up to the temp to start a fire.

It definatly was in the engine compartment but the damage was too extensive for a layman like me to tell where it started.

That sucks.

We've heard of tranny damage flat towing. But this might be a first here.

Don't think outside temps or exhaust from motor home were a factor....
Sorry for your loss, but it is just a truck, and can be replaced.
A good insurance adjuster might be able to pinpoint where it started and cause.
Important thing...no one was hurt/injured.

Retired, work is a four letter word.
I would think a not fully released hand brake, other than that maybe electrical. Who installed your tow wiring & supplemental braking system? I tow also with the same tow base connectors, this worries me and I hope you find the cause and post it. What type of braking do you use?
