if you smell coolant near the catalytic converter, I'd guess it's a head gasket.
I would take a sniff at the tail pipe when you see the white smoke just to make sure the smell is in the exhaust. just to be sure.
Sorry to hear you're having so much trouble.
If you're mechanically inclined and care to dig into it, it looks like 10 screws to remove the inner tailgate cover and take a peek.
I'd be interested in seeing some pictures and share what you find.
As for the OPs original post, if you suspect an external leak and want to troubleshoot that yourself, you might want to add some UV dye and get a UV light. We use this technique on the hydraulic systems at my place of work. we use a dye that's compatible with oil but its the same principle.

Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but i believe the 22 Ranger uses Ford yellow coolant like my 19 does.
I would go to the dealership and buy the prediluted ( the one on the right)if you're not very confident in your mechanical abilities yet. No need to mix.
The bolt is a little out of focus to verify, but the two silver "stripes" on the bushing appear to show evidence of aluminum galling. If so, something's definitely spinning on it.
It's also strange that the crest of the threads after the cross hole show signs of wear/polishing. The crest should...
Replaced my glass last summer after a chip that turned into a crack before I could get it repaired.
I went with a local shop I've done business with in the past. OEM replacement cost about $1000 out the door. Could have bought an import windshield for about $300 less but they said they couldn't...
I did the math after I posted. looks like they stick out about 2.64" more than stock. Might be a bit much for me with just a level kit.
As far as steel Vs. aluminum rims, I'd feel more comfortable rubbing big rocks with a set of steelies.
I don't rock crawl but have been known to veer off the...
I wanted to purchase some from a local tire shop a few years ago. The salesperson said they don't make them in a 17" dia. and offset that works for the 265/70 K02's I was upgrading to.
Not sure how true that statement was.
I believe WA state makes you pay the taxes when you register the vehicle. while I've never done it, there is a huge Dodge/GM dealer in Idaho that some of my friends have bought from. they said they still had to pay WA state tax but the dealer's out the door price still saved them a lot of money.
I learned something about trade-ins recently but it might only apply to my state (or I may have not heard correctly).
Apparently, the trade in amount at the dealership can be deducted from the taxes due on the new vehicle. So if i buy a new car at $50,000, the sales tax due at 10% would be...
Have you tried to make a call with another phone? If an android phone still makes quiet calls, the problem could be with the truck. If the call is fine, your phone is probably the issue.
