Sounds like you are getting really bad signs of the failing CDF drum. Neutral out and flaring are extreme signs. If you have an extended warranty I would bring it in for the TSB as it sounds like it will fail. If you don't have an ESP you could call your local dealer and ask what the diagnostic fee would be.My 2019 hasnt been in yet at 112000 miles but it is starting to act up pretty bad. Past couple weeks have had especially rough shifts 3-4 and 6-7 when cold. Flaring up and slamming into gear. 3-4 has never been perfectly smooth but it is getting notably worse.
A new symptom that has just started happening is the transmission going into neutral between 1 and 2. Has happened 3 times this past week all driving on city neighborhood streets. Turn onto a street, the transmission goes for 2 and the engine just revs freely. Let the rpms settle and it will clunk into gear.
Has anybody had the TSB done out of pocket and what did that cost? Wondering if I should just put it back to stock and trade it or bite the bullet and bring it in for the transmission work.
No ESP for me. Kicking myself a bit on that. $4200 is a good chunk of money but better than a whole trans when a new one is @ $5200 plus core i guess. Wonder if they would charge more if it is done outside warranty or if they still do it by the book time?Sounds like you are getting really bad signs of the failing CDF drum. I saw the dealer charge to Ford for my CDF repair just a couple weeks ago and it was $4200.
45k miles for my CDF drum as wellMine was rebuilt at 45K miles.
My 2019 did a lot of that before I sold it at 79k. You might need a new transmission. My 2019 hasnt been in yet at 112000 miles but it is starting to act up pretty bad. I put mine back to stock a couple months before bringing it in for the TSB.No ESP for me. One week. That was diagnosis and repairs.
Well, had to be towed back to Ford. Came out to a large puddle of tranny fluid under my truck, still waiting on Ford diagnosis since it was a holiday weekend 🫤I just got my truck back today, full transmission rebuild at 48,300 miles. The transmission was slipping and very harsh shifting in the lower gears. I have the extended but it was covered under the powertrain.

Yep, sure does.Well crap! That sucks.
Just got off the phone with Ford, cracked torque converter. They have absolutely no idea of what the cause wasProbably over filled. If done at dealer that’s pretty inexcusable
But it should not be unexpected. Ford's track record is dismal.Well crap! That sucks.
Don't beat yourself up, you would think a 40k truck would last, unfortunately, in 2026 its close to impossible to buy quality in vehicles. I really don't know what im going to do after my Ranger. I hate all modern vehicles for quality and cheap plastic. No ESP for me.
