Wouldn't bet on it, there was nothing wrong with my connector or my seat belt,
Time needed to do the inspection...less than10 minutes
Appointment Friday 10AM, released to me when done 4:25PM.
I dropped it off on time and returned at 2:30PM, it had not been moved.

When they saw me, they took it into the shop, but not into a work bay.
After waiting over an hour and thirty minutes I insisted that they either inspect the truck or give it back,
.as I was not going to leave it over the weekend and they were about to close at 4:30PM.
Finally! They did the job and released the truck.
That was about 2 weeks ago and it has still not shown up as done on FordPass.

Now there's another sad story...

After many attempts to join and use FordPass from May until November, I finally got it to PARTIALLY work on November 12.
After sales tried a couple times and failed , I went to my PC to try, repeatedly then to the service department without success.
Finally after several calls, I spent an hour and ten minutes on the phone with a Rep from FordPass.
This wonderful and patiently determined lady stuck with me until she apparently got it to work.
I can now start the truck and lock it, even look at the levels. It will not however display any function under the account choice.
I have not yet received my purchase points, and had to file a case to get them to acknowledge them.

I am REALLY glad that there has been nothing wrong with my truck!
Look in the setting for ford pass and do a master rest on you truck and they pair the phone again. It should fix your issue.

I can't believe they have to cut it. Can't meter it along the line or...Did they at least re-pin it with a new connector?

Did that again, while on the phone with FordPass yesterday, It took 45 minutes on hold to speak to an agent.
They attribute the wait to problems with the system.
Without the promised points, or the ability to receive or track them, FordPass has little value for me.
The ability to start the truck from Japan or to check the odometer on my phone is at best is a cute little novelty.
I am told to wait another week to see if they can get the glitches out of their system, then call back.

Along with fuel amount, air pressure per tire, oil life %, vehicles location and apps at the bottom of the screen. A wonderful feature for free.

I have to agree with both of these statements. For me it's a novelty that I rarely use because I have remote start on my fob and I don't have a typical 9-5 job where I can set a start schedule. I think I remote locked my doors once ,I thought I locked them but wasn't sure so it's a nice feature.

If the truck was ever stolen the location feature is nice to have. I always know how much gas is in my vehicles, just something that has been in-bedded in me since I started driving. I don't put a lot of miles on my truck either so oil life is irrelevant too. I'm glad they decided to make the app free because I wouldn't have paid for it as I see no value in it for me. Kind of like the free trial wifi hotspot which I never used. I never activated it as I didn't want to go through the hassle of canceling it but I can see how it would be useful for someone with kids or if you travel a lot.

Yeah, cute novelties and kinda fun to play with, As you say, wonderful features as long as they are free.

Everybody seems to enjoy the remote start feature , and it is nice I suppose. but a bit ironic.
They put in START/STOP to save on emissions and fuel when the truck is actually being used, then they allow the truck to sit at idle for extended periods with nobody even in it... strange.

I read an earlier post that stated you can only start the truck via the Ford app once or maybe twice then there has to be a key cycle to repeat the process. Does anyone know if that is a fact. I'm asking so if a person wanted to start it from afar multiple times when the truck is setting for longer periods of time. I will be in this situation. The other option would be a trickle charger connected to the battery. I'm talking the truck sitting for 2 1/2 months.

The dealer did my recall safety inspection yesterday and it checked out just fine. When I got back to my shop I crawled under the truck to look and see if they left a mess of the wire harness, and it was perfectly nice and neat. I could tell the 2 zip ties they had to cut were replaced with new ones, and the harness looked to be as it should.

I did the step by step check and it checked fine but the issue still exists. Hyperblink mostly with right turn signal, left turn signal is intermittent. Sometimes, going over rough railroad tracks or steep speed bumps, the problem will resolve itself. When tail lights are on, the hyperblink is gone completely. This leads me to believe the issue is perhaps in the tail lights.

Safety Recall 19S43

Select 2019 Model Year Ranger Vehicles

Rear Lamps Issue

Affected Vehicles:

Vehicle: Ranger
Model Year: 2019
Assembly Plant: Michigan
Build Dates: June 4, 2018 through August 16, 2019

Reasons for this Safety Recall:

In some of the affected vehicles, terminals in connector C422 may be misaligned and may have been damaged during assembly. If a misalignment occurs and terminals are pushed out, there may be a loss of functionality of both the left and right rear tail lamps. While the center high-mounted stop lamp (CHMSL) will continue to function ensuring some level of stop lamp indication, all rear tail lamp features will not function. This includes the stop, turn, rear position, and reverse lamp features. This condition may be intermittent.

The C422 connector is a 34-pin inline connector and is located on the 14290 to 14405 harness mounted to the left frame rail around mid-vehicle.

Service Action:

Before demonstrating or delivering any new in-stock vehicles involved in this recall, dealers are to inspect connector C422, checking for any terminal push out, and if necessary replace the hard-shell connector. Simultaneously, a continuity check will be performed on the ground circuit, from the tail light to connector C422. This service must be performed on all affected vehicles at no charge to the vehicle owner.

Owner Notification Mailing Schedule:

Owner letters are expected to be mailed the week of January 6, 2020. Dealers should repair any affected vehicles that arrive at their dealerships, whether or not the customer has received a letter.

Do You Get A Rental Vehicle If You Are Affected By This Recall?

PASS INSPECTION: Vehicles that pass inspection are NOT affected and are not approved for rental vehicles. Refer to the 19S43 technical instructions for additional information.

FAIL INSPECTION: For vehicles that fail inspection and the applicable wiring pigtail kit is not available, submit a VIN-specific contact, along with a photo of the hard-shell connector showing terminal push out, via the SSSC Web Contact Site.
  • A ten-digit approval code is required from the SSSC for rental vehicles.
  • If rental vehicles are needed beyond 1/3/2020, dealers will have to contact SSSC for an extension.
  • Part orders will be taken, but will be held by SSSC until sufficient quantities are available, which is expected by early January. Approval for all rental vehicles for this program will end at that time.
  • Follow Extended Service Plan (ESP) guidelines for dollar amounts. Prior approval is required from the SSSC.

I purchased a 2019 Lariat on 12/27/19 and was told that it was involved in this recall. My truck is now being held hostage at the dealership awaiting parts. Has anyone received the required "kit" for this recall yet?

My lights have been working all this time.
I'm at the dealer now for the last three hours getting the recall carried out.
I can only assume at this length of time they're completely replacing my connector...

Did they actually have the parts for your unit to repair? Any info from anyone else on recall parts arriving at dealerships?

I got my second notice for the taillights two days ago.
I took it in to explain that it was already done and that the dealer should document that fact.
My truck had been dropped at 10AM per appointment, They put it inside the shop when I returned a 2:30PM
They started the job when reminded at 4:05 pm and finished at 4:25PM They went home at 4:30.
Apparently they failed to document the work that the tech had completed and explained what he had done.
Now they denied that it was done and want me to bring the truck back in.
I explained that I was not going to do so and that they could either document the recall or continue to send recall notices forever, which will be immediately discarded upon receipt.
