Thank you! Really happy to not have to eat the diagnostic fee and get a generic answer like “it’s just how it drives”. I’m pretty sure they’re going to have to do an TCM relearn so I’m prepared for it to drive a bit strange until it adjusts. I’m also assuming they’ll replace the transmission fluid which would be great as that was my next scheduled maintenance.

The SA did say it was due at 30,000 which I’m surprised to hear as I don’t see that in the online owners manual, but I could have missed it.
Actually in the owners manual it recommends changing the fluid at 150,000 which is crazy. Your SA is right that it's best to keep up on it sooner and 30K-40K is a good mileage to change it at.

Glad they’re covering it for you. Can’t wait to see what the failure was. The 2023’s are supposed to have the updated CDF drum so doubting that it’s that. My guess is valve body or trash can.

Exactly what I read! Thank you for clarifying I’m not crazy, haha. I was planning on doing it at 50k, as I do with all my vehicles but agreed; 150k is just crazy.

Have you performed a Live Data Drive and or recorded live data for the Exhaust Pressure Sensor, EGR Desired and DPFE Voltage and Pressure as well as the MAP Sensor readings and the EGRT reading.
Taken at KOEO - IDLE and Driving - this is where I can see if the system is operating normally.

I want to know if the (MAP) and (Exhaust Pressure) sensors match the (BARRO) reading at KOEO
I want to know what the DPFE reads at (KOEO & IDLE) both voltage and pressure and then with a Live Data Drive - what does the Desired EGR read when the EGR Event triggers and then the response to the DPFE and MAP and EGRT readings during the EGR Event (Flow) cycle daring Light Cruise this will a quick event - plus add Vehicle Speed and RPMs to the PID list - these are the main PIDs to monitor to see what the EGR system is doing
When ^^^ this dude speaks. Listen. He knows his 💩 👍!

At 45,000 miles I had to have the transmission rebuilt. I was prepared to pay the diagnostic fee for the transmission TSB, but since they found defects the rebuild was necessary and they ate the fee for the diagnostic.

What you describe sounds to me like some of the symptoms I had.
Exactly how mine acted. Rebuilt transmission at 32,000 and change

UPDATE 2:

We have a winner! Got a call from the SA today that the failed part was the valve body. They attempted to fix the existing valve body, but after test driving, ran into the same issues. Due to this, they will be dropping the transmission from the truck and sending it to a third party transmission specialist to replace the entire part. He said for the 2.3L engine it's rare, but there is a recall for the larger 2.7 engine valve body so he's not surprised. It's looking to be at least a week before I can get the truck back, so I'm anticipating a big improvement in shifting performance.

Hopefully the third party will “look” at everything while in there.

Rare for 2.3? 🤔

If they don't replace the CDF drum it will be a pointless repair.
I'm interested in the logic behind this; can you elaborate? As a barnyard mechanic I'm very green when it comes to transmissions and their workings.

Hoping so! Putting my full faith in them as this truck has sentimental value for me. My father drove an (Alpine?) green Ranger growing up, so I was so excited to grab an Eruption Green when I saw it.

The cdf drum has been the major failure point for the 10R80 transmission so it should be replaced as well
I could be wrong since there’s a lot of conflicting information, but others have mentioned since mine was built in December 2022 it has the updated CDF drum?
