Typical story - I've told it before in multiple threads, 2022 Lariat Screw (built in early 2022), original issues started around 25-30K miles. I had the valve body procedure done first....then the CDF was done seperately after the valve body. After those repairs, everything was ok for about 20-30K miles, then most of the same issues are back and the dealer is going to replace the transmission. It's also had an unrelated electrical issue replaced under warranty and I've had the DPFE replaced under warranty. So it's at the shop now with warranty issue #5 in less than 3 years. I paid it off a few months ago.
I'm at 67K miles and am covered through Ford for up to 75K miles.
Call me crazy, but I'm worried that the next time it craps, I'll be out of warranty and faced with a $6K+ bill on a truck that might be at 100K miles. I feel like I should jump ship now for $20K instead of waiting 2-3 more years for it to take another shit and be hit with 30% of the $20K in replacing a transmission on a higher mileage truck (that would also have thousands less in trade value at that time).
I can get a 2025 XLT with the FX4 package for about $15K on top of trading mine in. For another $5k, I can get a VSC that runs through 150K miles and a dealer service package that gives me free oil changes, tire rotations and one detail per year for the life of the vehicle. So new truck, no more 10r80, 150K mile VSC with lifetime oil changes for $20K.
My question is, for those who have had their 10r80 replaced, are you happy with it? Has it been better than the original? More of the same problems? If you were me, would you jump ship and get a new 6g for $20K OR stick it out with the replacement transmission. Does the replacement come with a new warranty? And how many miles on the new transmission?
Lots of trans threads already....could we please keep the responses strictly for those who have had a full replacement and can provide 1st hand feedback? TIA.
