I agree about the shocks. even though I’ll be in a new vehicle, I do regret never switching them out. The 4Runner I test drove had Bilstiens, couldn’t believe how smooth it was.

whenever I get into a new vehicle I’ll be sure to get you a total count of dampers.
I had the four wheel drive shop in Virginia Beach install Bilstiens at 80,000 miles. World of difference.

Well today I will park it in the barn. Significant because ? It may be there for a while. I will be checking in to the hospital for some major back surgery. They go in from the front to remove and replace the lower four disks. It takes two surgeons, one vascular to move things out of the way, and a neurosurgeon to do the spine work. Next day they open from the back to install pins and screws to fuse the vertebrae. 🥴 I will admit to being a little apprehensive, but the pain and lack of mobility leave me no better option. Wish me luck.
My recovery goal is a beach trip in mid April. 🌴🌴 🦞That may be a little optimistic, (doc said 3 to 6 months) but that goal will help me work through the rehab.
Jeezaloo Gregg, I hope it all goes very smoothly and you’re on that beach in time. Dave tells me you should get a damper installed while they’re in there. He said it makes it way easier to settle into a chair.

I hope you have a great recovery and you bring your Fishing Pole to the Beach !

Understand completely. My experience with ford and frankly other American products has turned me off a lot of vehicles and products made here.
Not just American, I feel all Auto brands are slacking in some form or another. I was a life long VW fan, but ever since "Diesel Gate" (Not that VW was the only one) they have soured on me. Used to be a fun, quirky "for the people" brand. Now...just meh. They don't make anything I am interested in, and they all but got rid of anything manual. The only sedan in their line up, the Jetta, is the only one that can be had with a manual, only in the GLI trim. Which, that will probably disappear. The too expensive I.D. Buzz, done after one year.

I am a defector

I worked at a Chrysler dealership in the late 70’s when the Omni and Horizon came out. They had Vdub engines cause Chrysler didn’t have an engine that small. The cars both looked like shoe boxes but I remember those little 1.7 four cylinder engines being tough and reliable back then. Somewhere in the early 80’s, Chrysler finally developed their own engine which wasn’t as good.

I don’t disagree. It’s really about what brand will fix it when you come to then with a problem at this point.

Yeah the Buzz is dissapointing. Electric would not fit my lifestyle but I thought it was pretty cool until I saw the price and range. Speaking of diesels, I really wish more vehicles had them here in the US. I don’t love the DEF stuff but it’s just nice for the fuel economy and torque.

My diesel had a special option that would fog for mosquitoes.

I stopped by and visited with Dad and Uncle Jim for a little while after work this afternoon.
Notice that our trucks parking spots have been swapped lol.

My Ranger carried me to Petersburg to Dixie Restaurant where I had chipped beef on toast with home fries, coffee, water, and blueberry pumpkin bread pudding.
Then my Ranger carried me to Home Depot in Colonial Heights where I bought four sets of ball bearing drawer slides for an upcoming woodworking project.
Then my Ranger carried me to Davis in Prince George where I fed her some $2.75 fuel. Then home…..

I paid that at checkout. Arm and leg.
It is too bad HD or Lowe’s does not do Military Discount on wood products. I like the 10% off on other stuff. HD is nice and even does it on top of sale prices, but Lowe’s only gives you the larger of the 2.
Remodeled a couple of bathrooms and the kitchen saving a lot with the discounts. Before Covid a sheet of hardwood plywood was around $40 bucks now close to $100. I use that and edge tape which looks almost as good as solid hardwood. Now days is just too expensive for any large project.
