The old ranger took me to look at some Toyotas today (not a Tacoma so i think im good). That being said I did sit in one and it seemed pretty comfy
I understand the newer ones have the bugs worked out but my ass will never sit in another one after the crap I went through on that 95. Don’t let my hatred for the brand turn you off them, You gotta buy whatever makes you feel good.
My lady friends brother in law had a Tacoma that had the rotten frame issue. They took it back, stripped it down and put all his running gear and body on a brand new frame which I thought was awesomely cool, but not enough to EVER make me buy one again.
On the other hand, my Ranger just turned 150,000 miles with the drive shaft center bearing being the one and only issue in that mileage. So I have no reason to complain at all.

Understand completely. My experience with ford and frankly other American products has turned me off a lot of vehicles and products made here. It sounds like you have a great truck and hopefully it will make it many more miles! Maybe you’ll beat out the guy who just hit 200k!

that being said this forum is way to fun to leave. No other forum is like this one whether it’s for fords, Toyotas, tractors, or whatever else. Once I have a new vehicle I’ll try to do a write up on it here. I’m really looking at the 4 runner. I cannot believe how quiet it is inside the cabin, and the brakes are amazing.

Yep, you feel about Ford the way I feel about Toyota. I took my Ranger to the four wheel drive place in Virginia Beach to have new shocks and proper alignment cause Ford couldn’t get it right. I rented a car from Enterprise cause they needed the truck all day and of all cars on the lot, they gave me a damn Toyota SUV something or the other and it was actually very nice. But I was glad to have my Ranger back at the end of the day.

Took advantage of our near record warmth and made my first trip of the year into Cherokee National Forest to fly fish the upper Tellico for wild rainbows. Hooked 5 and landed 3 in a couple hours afternoon. I needed that couple hours. Been a rough year so far.

Just out of curiosity, was it the fx4 shocks or did you have the regular ones?

I think the first second Mod/upgrade anyone should do if they have the Fx4 shocks is change them out. It was a night and day difference when I changed mine on my '19 to the Eibach and the only regret was I wish I'd done it sooner.

The first one should obviously be a damper.:wink:

The stock XLT Sport 4x4 shocks aren't really any better than the FX4. Even when the truck was new it had a tendency to dip and dive the front end, and the bounce in the back of the truck wasn't no picnic lol. Definitely shock upgrade, I wish I had the Bilstein 5100s put on sooner lol.
World of difference.

My Ranger carried me to Awful House in Hopewell for chicken and eggs over medium with coffee of course.
Then to Lowe’s to look at some high dollar oak boards. And people wonder why I charge what I do for these projects..!!!
Price for one board..!!!!

I agree about the shocks. even though I’ll be in a new vehicle, I do regret never switching them out. The 4Runner I test drove had Bilstiens, couldn’t believe how smooth it was.

whenever I get into a new vehicle I’ll be sure to get you a total count of dampers.
