Ive had a smaller fusion than yours, L4 and L5, and while the postoperative pain was significant, it went away relatively quickly. My doc did not prescribe traditional Physical Therapy, but rather had me re-learn how to walk (without a limp), and then keep walking. I went back to work at week 10. Admittedly a little weak, but mostly steady and almost completely pain free. That was in 2019. Shoulda taken one at the grocery store this past weekend. Dude took up two handicap spots (in a lifted truck w/ handicap plate) and the massive space in between by parking at an angle.
