I installed MBS's Fitzstick last spring.

I placed the OEM transmission fill cap on my bench, figuring I'd store it someplace safe for 20 years and then toss it...

This week I was in my shop area doing some cleanup and picked up the cap/dipstick. I didn't realize the stick was removable from the cap. I pulled it out and could not believe what I was looking at.

Clearly a pile of machined aluminum was stuffed in the cap. How is this even possible? Where did it come from?

Anyone else see something like this?

Otherwise, my 2019 is holding together and shifts smooth as silk (knock on wood) after adding a bottle of the Lubeguard recommended in other posts.

Wow, It appears the shavings are from the machining process of the cap and was missed by the technician, most likely it was held in place by the cutting oil that would have been used for the process.

Wow - one would think that would have been flushed out properly before the dip stick was installed in the cap. Unfortunately, when robots make mistakes, they make them over and over again, hundreds, maybe thousands of times.

I guess automation is a lot like technology, it’s great……when it works.

I will have to check mine, if I can find it.

I can't find the original post on this subject, perhaps it succumbed to the technical issues. If it's still out there, admins please move this there.
I checked my factory dip stick cap and it was very clean. I also noticed on the side of the dipstick opposite the level marks is says "Remove Cap Before Use." WTF? Can someone explain that? Were you supposed to pull the plastic part out of the cap in order to take a reading?

Yes, remove the plastic part from the metal cap before using the dipstick.
