Do we know yet what changed after August 15, 2022, and how to check it?
They note: "Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement" (emphasis mine).
Mine has a build date of August 11, 2022. I may have gotten some hints of the issue but am not sure.

I'm at 33k miles. I have been planning on doing something like a fluid replacement w/Lubeguard Platinum, FitzStick dipstick, and maybe an aluminum trans pan. But I'm now wondering if it would be better to do some more symptom sorting and then get more aggressive with Ford about replacing it before trying to stave off the problem myself.

I really appreciate the info I've found in these forums! Usually it's been little stuff, fortunately.

My .02 is that since you are sill in warranty, if you experience ANY odd behavior you should take it in and reference the TSB. Most people who have had the transmission replaced seem to think the new ones are quite a bit better than the old ones.

My understanding is that after 8/15/22 the transmissions have an updated CDF drum which is one of the biggest failure points and something that Lubeguard does nothing for. There may also be some minor changes to the valve body as well.

I've been out of warranty for over a year now - so far, so good but I've done two fluid changes and added Lubeguard Platinum. Fingers crossed I'm good. I will be doing another fluid change in about 10k. It will be easy now that I have the PPE pan with a drain plug.

If you’re still within warranty, have any shifting issues even if minor and your before the 08/16/22 build date take it in.

By using the TSB and that specific statement (Built On Or Before Aug 15, 2022) tells us- from that date and before - The older style of CDF Drum is installed -The one with the issue, thus the reason for the TSB.
From Aug 16, 2022 till end of production has the newer (redesigned) CDF Drum installed, my build date is Aug 16, 2022 - So mine luckily has it. I tried very hard to get specific confirmation of this and unfortunately - no luck, my only definitive information is the TSB and my confirmed build date.
I have 21 k miles on it and so far - Zero Issues

Don't wait.
Take it in and reference the TSB.
I printed one out and took it in with me so there would be no mistaking my seriousness about the issue or the steps to be taken to diagnose.
Truck did fail the appropriate tests and is now at the dealer for repairs under warranty.

Silly question here but new to tsb's and there relation to my possible fix in the future.
My 20' power train will be up this August. So I'm debating an ESP but really only for the tranny. With this bulletin out there woukd that mean they would be required to fix it outside of factory warranty? Similiar to a recall? If not wouldnt ford assume some responsibility after the warranty period?

I guess I would be taking my chances. Not thrilled about a $1500 ESP payment this summer. FyI Lombard Ford certainly had the best prices i voukd find seeing I'm at 42k mileage.

Update: forget Lombard ford for the ESP. They won't give me one because I have a ford performance tune. Wtf!! That literally makes no sense. Wow.

My 2022 starting acting up so i reached out to the closest dealer about transmission issues , it took a couple of weeks to get in but i did at about 59645 miles. It took them about 3 weeks, testing, failing ,dealing with Ford, but overall they replaced with a new transmission. Running great so far. My Dealership did a great job , they even reinstalled my FitzStick.

I’ve seen several posts stating that they received help from Ford when just out of warranty. Each situation is different and probably depends on how good your dealer is.

Also helps if you are a longtime Ford customer. I got a lot of help with my broken leaf spring and I was well beyond warranty.

Hey everyone,

Pulling this thread up again for anyone who reads my comment earlier. I had issues with a hard shift after starting in cold weather if I didn’t warm it up for like 10 minutes. Usually just that first shift.

Well I finally got around to taking it in. Printed the TSB code to reference the transmission test and typed out all my symptoms. They immediately insisted I get the transmission check done and I’m now on order for parts for a rebuild or a new transmission under warranty (thank god).

Sounds like they ordered parts for a CDF rebuild (it’s the mentioned tsb in this thread) but if labor costs too much they could just order a new one.
