I guess my 10R80 was built when Mssrs. Ford and Farley were watching it being assembled on a field day to the plant. It's been trouble free after I had the trans. software reflashed. I just had the fluid replaced at 84K, along with all the rest of the fluids and tires rotated and rebalanced.

At the very first sign of trouble it’ll be going back in to ford.
Magic snake oil isn’t going to fix a lemon transmission.
Lubegard is not magic snake oil, it is a thoroughly tested, well engineered additive that has helped many of us with the 10R80. No, it will not cure a defective transmission, but it will absolutely help with many symptoms these trannys have. It's a minor expense to try it, and can be used as a troubleshooting data point.

I'll be one of the rare no Votes. 2019 Lariat Super crew, bought new in 19, traded for a new F150 powerboost a year ago. I liked the size, I liked the engine, and it was a pretty capable truck.
Things I didn't like.
  • Transmission shifting, probably related to the CDF drum issue.
  • Powertrain calibration as a whole, it just isn't smooth and it had a huge hesitation if you were on the gas, off of it, then back on it again. Usually I'd see this going through a roundabout on my way to work.
  • Brakes were inconsistent, jerky when you got on them hard. Did the forscan procedure, new rotors and pads at all 4 corners, still the same.
  • EGR sensor bucking surging. I've got a pile of like 5 of these still in the garage.
  • Roof trim paint peeling, door seams rusting 2 years in.
Although sometimes I miss the size of the Ranger, my F150 is smoother, quieter, gets better gas mileage and is just more comfortable. Driving the Ranger was fine, but I really like my F150.

No real complaints, overall solid truck
Few issues I've had since I bought it, all repaired

Just ready to drive something different.

You must own shares in the company.
If it were that great at solving the issues, ford would just start dumping it in there transmissions rather then deal with all the problems and lawsuits going on.
I don’t want something to bandaid my tranny in the meantime. I want my transmission fixed proper and run the way it’s Intended to.

Ford isn't going to fix the 10R80 anytime soon.

I remember several years back reading how a Ford engineer who worked on the 10R80 design warned his management team that the transmission fluid formulation was missing or severely low in several key ingredients, and that early failures should be expected.

He was ignored.

Do what you will, but I find that LubeGard Platinum cured what ailed my transmission. I'm approaching 10K miles with nary a hiccup since changing the fluid and adding LubeGard Platinum.

I was ready to sell the truck after 12K miles of increasingly erratic behavior (18K total miles on the truck at the time). I still might unload it, but it won't be due to the transmission.

Once you've gone through 2 or 3 Transmission rebuilds / replacements (and more than you think have done just that!), you may be more comfortable with the idea, It took me over a year to become desperate enough to give LubeGard Platinum a try. It was the final straw for me. If it did not fix my transmission problems the truck was going on the auction block.

My wife was constantly advising me to "unload the lemon". I spend $10K rebuilding my 2005 Ranger to new condition and still own it. I went to that expense because I could not trust the 2020 Ranger for anything other than local driving.

I trust it now. But I am still going to keep the 2005 Ranger....just in case.

Stock for stock, we are basically at v6 Mustang performance from the early 2000's. I hate making that comparison since I never liked the v6 Mustangs lol.
Funny you would say that, because I have an 05 Mustang with the V-6 and and a 5-speed, and I concur with the performance. I think my Ranger is much quicker from 60 to 90 than the Mustang.

I love my V-6 for the simple reason that I can drive that car to its limits without exceeding mine. Last year, I rented a Mustang GT and that thing scared the hell out of me. Floor it at 60, and you better hang on, because it is launching, with or without you.

Just trying to share helpful information. That's what you came here for, wasn't it?

No.
I came to this thread to join the poll and post why I polled the way it I did.

This thread has nothing to do with being helpful or promoting snake oil.

Theres a million threads on the plagued problem of the transmission and a service bulletin at the dealer on a possible solution.

There are also numerous positive posts about LubeGuard. I didn't imply it was a cure for a bad transmission, but it has indeed helped many. I was skeptical myself, but it was cheap enough to try, and I was pleasantly surprised.

I wouldn't dare ever starting a "what's the best oil" thread. :)

My 2023 STX has exceeded my expectations. Pleasure to drive, absolutely comfortable on the highway and pulls my camper like a champ.
