Trans Temps

I am new to the site and have been looking and reading mostly since I purchased a Travel Trailer and stared monitoring trans temps. A bit of background I have a 2019 Ford Ranger Lariat I have a BDS 3.5 inch lift and I am running 33 inch tires. I am seeing temps around 215 plus while pulling a trailer around 4100 lbs in some hills but mostly flat at temps around mid 90s. I was thinking of installing the deep pan PPE to help with this, any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

Given that 215 degrees is within the range of the temp Ford wants the trans to be to check the fluid level, I don't think that should be concerning at all.

Overheating does not seem to be a big concern for these transmissions, IMO.

Thanks for the reply I did see a temp jump to 230 but drop quickly after keeping it down to 55 or 60 helps drop it but my concern is when I travel into the mountains. I have checked the fluid level is good and in a hell of a place to check Thanks Ford.

Change fluid and filter every 30k. When you do get the pan and add an MBS dipstick. Will help slightly with temps, but really just help with the 230 peak you were experiencing.

Well it is too late for the every 30k as she has 68 k now and never been changed of course this is just mostly hwy miles being probably a 70 / 30 split. and no towing till now. I had already planned on changing out with the new pan.

The upgraded pan won’t hurt but I wouldn’t worry about it in my opinion. I tow my center console a lot especially in the summer. I towed it from Charleston to Captiva Island 2 yrs ago and last year from Charleston to the keys. Both trips were over 1k miles round trip in July/August. I’m at 91k miles and didn’t do my first service on the Transmission till about 4 months ago. I’m running 265/70/17 E rated tires. Those tires are pretty heavy being 10ply. Servicing the transmission and adding Lubeguard Platinum made my transmission smooth as glass. It was shifting fine before but definitely smoother after. Also my old fluid looked black as coffee.

I have already ordered the Lubeguard I guess what freaked me out was seeing the temp spike to 230 since I installed the Scan Gauge 3 and googling what the trans should run at.

I said that too and at 78k my transmission went kaboom. So change it asap.

That's normal...I've seen 220F on a 85F day at steady 65mph on highway towing nothing on level ground...

Not just wind resistance.....all those lights heat the air in front of the truck, and the truck drives thru that heated air, just sucking it up into the engine/trans area.....
