I looked into trading for a '24-'25. Way too much money for very little gain in my opinion. I have my 2019 set up with the mods that I wanted and it's low mileage and paid off. If you have to have it, that's your decision, but it's gonna cost you! Hope it works out like you hoped.

Maybe I'm wrong but if your hvac box hasn't warped yet maybe you got a good one. If you have the money for a trans repair it would probably be cheaper in the long run to keep it BUT with a new truck you don't have to worry about anything for five years/60K.

The new rangers have the 10r60, I have one in my bronco an it's lightyears smoother than the 10r80 in my '19 ranger. If something happened to the bronco I'd take a serious look at the new ranger.
^---- This.
Mine has 93k on it with no transmission problems (knock wood) so I'm weighing trading it in.
I just paid it off a few months ago and it's nice not having a payment though.
Also I'd have to get a 4-door and I like my Supercab. Don't need a back seat.

If you decide to test drive a '25, your decision to trade up will be an easy one. Traded my '21 STX for a '24 FX4 and have no regrets. The 6G is so much better in many ways.

Here's the link to the 6G Ranger Forum if you want to peruse there.

Obviously this is a personal decision but you're going to take a big hit with the trade-in and CA taxes on the full sales price.

I looked at the 25s because of the employee pricing (no haggle pricing basically), and going from a 21 Tremor Lariat to a 25 XL 4x4 I was still over 8K out the door. Get that out the door price as low as possible and let the payments take care of themselves. Honestly, the XLTs are pretty nice and you save a lot of $$.

In the end, the transaction turned into such a time sink that I walked away and kept my '21. A few weeks later, I have no regrets.

Well, CarMax gave me the amount I wanted (just have the written appraisal, I haven't actually sold it). My dealer found the exact truck I want, assuming they can get it. 4x4 (yep, I changed my mind), Azure Gray. The 4x2 I was looking at didn't have the tow package. The dealer also said they would match CarMax's offer, so that may save me some hassle.

I’ll be that knuckle head…?…
Only 6G ranger to trade in a beautiful 5G for is the Ranger Raptor ?… like someone mentioned previously YOLO and go for it…

but I’m assuming you want to tow and the Ranger Raptor has a lower tow rating overall…

You want the infotainment center.. get the T-Style radio (6th generation)… much much cheaper in the long run….

however having said all that, it’s up to you buddy. Get what’s gonna make you happy.

I would love a Ranger Raptor! I have looked at rangers online at the dealership I usually buy from and a well equipped Lariat runs over 50K an I've seen raptors for 60K so it might not be that big a jump. It's never a big jump when it's someone else's money!

You might also want to check Driveway - they offered me 2k more than car max and I shopped that price with the dealers.

OP, I know you said you weren't interested in the V6.

Try it, you'll like it.

Though it honestly doesn't feel that much stronger than the 2.3 out on the highway, the effortless 0-60 is nice. And while my truck is faster with a tune, it seems to generate more drama doing it.

I recently looked at the new Ranger and the new Colorado. My impressions HERE

While neither of them were enough of an improvement for me to consider trading at the time, my continuing issues with the HVAC box and the dealer's "No Problem Found" response even when I show it to them, makes me still consider trading it.

Lingering transmission quirks come to mind as well.

A brand new 10R80 is now around $2500 so that concern is somewhat mitigated.

If Ford would step up and resolve these 2 known and common issues I have, I would keep this truck forever without a second thought.

However, the lackluster responses I've gotten make me pretty sour on another Ford, even though I prefer the new Ranger over the Colorado.

Nothing builds your confidence in a brand like dropping your truck off at a dealer for a week only to get a No Problem Found, and then it exhibits the exact problem you brought it in for on the way home.

My warranty is up in December and I still have a garage full of stuff that I bought for this truck.

Soon I'll have to make a decision.

i swear this forum ping pongs back and forth between the new 10R60 transmission being smoother and being more of the same. i guess people hear what they want to hear. zaius, i actually remember your test drive impressions post and laughing about how you felt right at home in the new ranger when it clunked into 4th gear.

for these Ford transmissions, i just don't have 100% faith in them. i really enjoy Ford's engines in the F-150s and Rangers, but the amount of times i've had conversations with Ford mechanics telling me my transmissions quirks are "normal" is baffling. is it broken down? no. is it clunky/hard shifting occasionally and can't be easily replicated? you betcha. yeah, that's "normal." i don't even bother mentioning it to them when it's in for service now. if it breaks, i'll fix it or move on. one or the other.

I traded my 2022 for a 2024. Wow, i really love the ranger now!! This is what the ranger should have been from the very get go.
Transmission is so much smoother, i ha e intergrayes brake controller, ride is smoother, a little bigger truck, perfect size, and meets all my towing needs!
I traded, and this is now my forever truck. I am 6k miles in and really happy with it.
2024 xlt 4x2, elocker, advanced tow package.

Is the 2.7 tow cap a little higher than the 5G? 8500#?

Sadly the 2.7 is only available 4x4. I tow a lot so every pound counts and i got the 4x2.
2.3 liter. But all rangers are still rated at 7500.
What i would give for a heavy duty rabger. The f150 are just too big.
