2020 Ranger bought used, trying to understand what was done to it by previous owner

I could be wrong but it appears that your current front lift, very well might just be a spacer..(it’s hard to tell)..
You have after market tubular Upper control arms. (As someone already pointed out.) don’t appear to be of any notorious brands.(Grimm, total chaos, camburg, icon, BDS, Baja kits..etc.) but look like they’re a 1” uniball type.. looks like you have aluminum knuckles (that’ll be important if you want to get a replacement set of upper control arms..if the non branded UCA’s bother you.).
The rear..looks like it had a 1” lift block and u bolts for a 2” lift block.
Ditch the lift blocks and get a set of proper leaf packs. (Icon, wildtrak ((row ranger takeoffs.)), or the Ranger Tremor leaf packs, OME, or Dobinsons.).. when you do that make sure to get rear shocks that can handle 0-1.5” of lift…
You might be a good candidate for the eibach pro truck stage 2 or stage 2R front coilovers (+3.5” lift max up front.) and rear shocks kit (can handle 0”-1.5” of lift.).. and then wildtrak or tremor take offs (I believe they raise the rear about 1.25” ish.)… anyway that’s just thoughts.. take your time and have fun shopping.

You might even get a discount if you are watchful (Memorial Day coming up) - im glad someone else called those rims ugly and honestly I didn't see the spacers up front as others did, just the evidence there were blocks used out back. A few people use lift blocks and I really don't know the pros or cons - some concerns about driveshaft angles and thrust alignment in the rear - same with crazy lift heights up front for 4WD trucks pulling CV shafts out of place. Get new U bolts when you do whatever in the back - spring packs, blocks, shackles or a combo (?) - I recall someone had an improper length rear shock and sheared at the bottom mount - that may have been from a poorly pieced together suspension.

You might look into the Sumosprings progressive rate bumpstops.

On my RWD Ranger I got a set of Ford multileafs from the UK and replaced the u bolts holding them down with a set from Rough Country. They raised the rear a little more than half an inch IIRC and I already had swapped the rear shocks for Eibachs (yours look stock so the previous owner seemed primarily interested in cosmetics only) and had the front Eibachs with the adjustable collar to raise the front using stock springs. I only went halfway - those preload the springs and factory springs are typically progressive so it firms the ride I believe companies like Bilsten and Eibach will also sell replacement springs for the lift.

I get a sense Dobson is the Cadillac tier leaf springs and there may be a few brands to avoid.

The reservoir rear shocks look sexy but for mostly road/highway and not extreme offroading I'd want to hear from more experienced people.

I'm sure the more this thread gets bumped it will start to make sense.

Yep, damn sexy. Yank out the junk spacers, get multileafs and personally I think you could have an attractive stance without over the top lifts. Follow @Frenchy's advice on some appropriate sized wheels and then decide if you need more.

On the American trucks thing you used for a example.. the wheel specs appear to be 1 mm offset 17x9 wheels… the Fuel Rebel wheels are nice looking I will say…
Personally I wouldn’t go past a -15 or -25 offset ? at that point I think you’ll be losing turning radius and start beating on the fender if (when?) you hit a good bump..I think (tire size and lift height will play a role in if that happens or not.)

Steel body…… I have to look at the paperwork at home for the offset on the wheels…… the tires actually say 34 inches on the sidewall and I measured them and I was very pleasantly surprised at over 33 5/8” actual!!! no picture, but the rear Fox shocks have reservoirs. 40’s in da bed. Wife’s Wrangler has 38’s………..

But those king really pop against the red..is the mount for the hydraulic king bumps custom? looks like the set up will do like 15” of travel ?. Very pretty looking..

I put Bilstein on the front of my ranger an I think it firmed up the ride more than I liked. It handled well for a 4x4 in the curves but was a little jarring sometimes. I had the front set at 1.4" lift. I'm researching suspension for my bronco an it seems Eibach has a slightly plusher ride on the road. My off roading is pretty much crossing a few fields to hit the range an some camp roads to take my grandson fishing. With the Ohio roads an 95% road use the smoother the ride the better for me.
