Taking recommendations on 3-3.75” lifts. I’m not interested in the most cushy long travel ride but I’d like something smoother on road and firmer off road than stock. I tow a 4,000 boat as well so that’s also a factor. Thanks in advance!

Also, here is a couple pics of the ole steed

So if you want a PRACTICAL lift then I suggest the Old Man EMU lift!! I have the standard kit that has the basic shocks. I also have 285/70-17 Firestone Destination XT's on it with no problems.

How much lift do you get? 2.4 front and 1.6 rear. As for tires it depends on wich ones you go with for extra lift all around.

How does the kit do on road? Well lets just say that it is way more comfortable to say the least and way more confident in the twists!!

What about the OffRoad? Freaking AWESOME!!! I have great control and due to how Old Man EMU does the lift you get nive travel on all 4 wheels!! Should I add that i don't have any added skid plates yet?

Now you wonder about towing? Well it does just fine. I towed my old 280ZX a while back and I didnt have an issue. The car and trailer was right about 5,500 lbs and I'm sure the toung weight was enough as the truck was level.

What about control arms? Surely enough you must replace those right? Nope not at all!! I still have my factory control arms and the truck does just fine!!

Here are pictures of the truck now and from when I had 32 inch tires on it!!!

Hope this helps!!

@Frenchy I do a lot of towing of a smaller travel trailer and some light/medium off roading, so I was looking at the Old Man Emu. I was going to try to go with 285/75R17's. Do you think you have enough room in there for that extra amount of tire?

If you wanted to go with that size of tire you most likely would need to mess with crash bars and other things in order to make it fit. How I have my truck setup I'm still running the factory wheels and no spacers on the firestone's and don't really have any rubbing. I still have the factory crash bars and about the only rub I have is on the sway bars at full lock

My eventual goal is to go all out... Remove crash bars, new bumpers, new tires/wheels, etc... I like the Old Man Emu because I have heard good things about the off-road capabilities and the towing, but I do want to go slightly taller than your set up. I am just hoping the tires I want will fit under the Old Man Emu.

Be aware that with 33 inch tires you're right on the edge of needing a reviewer for the final drive. If you go taller a rear gear is necessary and unfortunately at this time I don't think there's ring and pinion sets for the front differential whatsoever. Some other members have confirmed that the cheap sets to work for the rear axle but until we have a matching set for the front it's kind of hard to do so

No problem. I will also state that with 33 inch tires and the Old Man EMU is seems like the best combination for suspension and tires(not counting other stuff like bumpers and body protection) for OffRoad. There has yet to be a trail that I couldnt do...... With the exception of a trail that a dedicated rock crawler would go.

So would you recommend the basic OME kit with leafs and shocks over the Eibach kit?

Yes I do. I recommend it over any leveling kit just because you're going off-road especially if you are camping if you're going to have stuff in the bed. You have a leveling kit your truck is level without a load and we'll do the stupid Virginia SWAT can you put stuff in the bed ome you can load the truck and possibly get level depending on how much we can put in it and still be able to go off road with no major problems
