And I quote Farely from yesterday's investor call.

"In 40 years in the industry, I've seen a lot of game-changer products, but the mid-sized electric pickup designed by our California team has got to be one of the most exciting. It's incredible package and consumer technology for a segment we know well. It matches the cost structure of any Chinese auto manufacturer building in Mexico in the future. How do we know that? Because 60% of the [BOM] (ph) has already been quoted.'

So when will we be seeing these? Seems they will follow Lightning model?

They're losing money on the lightning. Wouldn't hope it follows that if you want one.

All joking aside, because I'm not shy in my disdain for EVs, it's a niche market masquerading as a major market share.

That makes it difficult for auto giants to really break into because the R&D ain't cheap and the ROI is to to get back when everyone that wants an EV just buys a Tesla anyway.

Maybe you'll see what you want to hit the market soon-ish ??‍♂ but ICE vehicles aren't going anywhere anytime soon cause some hippies in Cali want them to and unfortunately that hinders the advancement of some EV products others would like to see.

Then you won't be in Ford long. Farely is doubling down on EV's and hybrid. You may not like it, but it's where they are putting placing their bets.

No, I won't. I'm not driving an EV, so if that's the direction he takes the entire company, I'm out.

However, despite what he 'says' to placate the hippies, they just throttled way back on that stupid lightning they were losing money on so if that's where they're headed, why cut production?

Maybe because you can't make money producing products nobody buys?

I was told my grandfather said he would never ditch his horse and buggy for one of them self propelled devil machines. He came around after fighting in WW1 and years later ended up owning a Nash dealership. Change is hard, but inevitable.

No worries with Farley running the show it wont be long before they're bankrupt! He's been saying they need to fix their horrible warranty record for 2-3 years now and still nothing! I mean just look at their stock price and what it's done in the last several years. ? One of Fords biggest mistakes was getting rid of their car line. You just alienated 1/3 or more of the drivers on the road!?‍♂

Trust me I'm a Ford guy true and true but if he thinks forcing EV's down everyone's throat is the answer he's in for a rude awakening. Personally I love the idea of hybrids and think he should concentrate more on those, it would fit way more peoples lifestyle. I think many now have seen how EV's have many weak points mostly the weather. To cold or to hot and they won't charge/run right and God forbid you're stuck trying to get out of town with a hurricane coming and there's no charging stations around or they're down.

When the forecast leaked a couple years ago they had this truck slated to be sold as a 2027 model so I'd not expect to hear about it until 2025 car shows, which honestly are not far away...

If they are sticking to their forecast then this is going to be sold as an electric Bronco, also.

There was some buzz about Farley saying they had a platform in development around the time I bought my truck. I'm glad to hear he's hyped on it. Hopefully he'll like it more than his Chinese car: https://www.autonews.com/ford/an-ford-ceo-drives-chinese-ev/

"“Basically, we radically simplified the vehicle,” Farley says. “The number of parts in the vehicle is an order of magnitude change. When you simplify the components to that level, and you really move the design, and supplier design phases earlier, you can integrate simpler design with better costs.

We’ve done a lot on manufacturing, we have a whole new kitting strategy, for the vehicle, we have a unit casting strategy that massively simplifies the stamping of the vehicle.” He knows other companies are exploring similar strategies, using gigacasting and design to remove cost from the outset. But he thinks the Ford ethos of simplicity and a higher engagement with a broader supplier chain earlier in the process will help ensure success."

Farley could turn out be a visionary or a soon to be forgotten bum. A lot more will be known in the next 10 days . I still see GM ads touting that 9,000 lbs atrocity (push the button) the buzz around the Lightning seems to have cooled , but probably a much larger market globally for a mid sized truck EV or hybrid . I see his driving a Chinese made EV as much as a publicity stunt and delivering a not too subtle messages to the UAW that change will continue.

All the publicity, commitments to outlaw ICE and drum beating around EVs reminds me a bit of the dot com boom and bust yrs at the century turn - everything was going to be done on the net, huge investments in bandwidth and other infrastructure were made then it went bust but slowly returning to what we see today and brick n mortar stores are the one going belly up.

Farley has been and continues to be overly transparent to the world about their EV plans. He's telling the world Ford will continue to spend on this front. If anyone doubts it, they are foolish. This doesn't mean by any stretch that ICE just goes away or dies. Farley seems VERY bullish about what he saw with their California skunk lab mid-size truck.
