Took the truck back out again tonight on a 45 mile shopping trip. It is a different truck! Smooth as silk shifts now. Wife was surprised and pleased.
Love to hear it!

I'd definitely question the charge for the gasket. That's not chunk change.
...I did, and the manager said they did that when they change filters... but I didn't ask for a filter swap specifically to not have to replace the (I thought?) one time use tranny pan... unless suddenly it's not?

Now I need to root around and find the Ford mechanic procedures that specifically say not to reuse the pan if it's removed. For now, no leaks but it's only been three days. I haven't driven it enough to get it to temperature to check the level.

Hey guys question regarding the Lubegard Platinum, is it the same color as the ULV? would it be obvious it was added (or something was added) at a later date?

I am thinking about this for preventitive maintenance but just wondering if the dealer would be able to detect an addititive was used (anything to deny warranty..)

Never mix drinks or you'll have a nasty hangover...

Yes, it is just about the same red. It may be a smidge darker, but you're only doing 1oz per qt. My opinion is they wouldn't be able to detect it without analyzing the oil, and I've never heard of a dealer doing that....for anything.

Looks like mine shit the bed today. Was trying to merge on the interstate and got the symptoms described in the TSB. Looks like extended warranty major job #2 for 2024 is coming up. The dealer that sold me the truck told me they're booked a month out. F*ck that noise. Found a dealer in the next county over who has an appointment spot open for Tuesday morning, so I'm going to limp it over there to have them deal with it. Currently collecting as much info as possible about my warranty, since I didn't buy the warranty there.
Doesn't matter. You bought a Ford warranty. It's just a product like any other. I bought from Granger, and my transmission is getting swapped out in Brooklyn. I suspect that the service writer only knows that you have the warranty, not where it's from.

Warranty paperwork says they prefer me to have it done at the dealership where I bought it, but that they'll take care of it wherever if I call.

Mine is through Triton Protect if that makes any difference.

Triton is a third party insurance company and is different than a Ford ESP plan. Not sure of the differences. But if you’re within the 5 year/60000 mile powertrain coverage then Ford should cover it without having to use your extended warranty.

ah, good point that the powertrain warranty is different than the rest. I had to dip into the extended warranty to get the blend box dealt with earlier this year. I bought my Ranger in April of 2020, and I'm just under 45k, so I'm definitely under the 5/60k threshold.

Great , then the latest TSB (24-2046) should cover any transmission issues for you

Steve,

Thanks for having the TSB handy. Dropped Danger Ranger off at Woody Anderson Ford in Huntsville, AL this afternoon to get looked at.

Truck is 4 years, 11 months old (2019) with 58,000 miles. Under warranty still? Yes. ?

Even though I have changed the DPFE sensor, MAP sensor, and IAT there is still issues. Truck has completely started to skip 4th gear every now and then, had a big surge from 3rd to 4th gassing it hard this morning.

Hopefully they can replicate the issues on a cold start drive tomorrow.

@Msfitoy I thought you said it’ll fix itself…it’ll fix itself. ????

I also said it won't fix itself but gave up after many were wishing their tranny problems would go away on its own...btw, I've mentioned this many many times but the DPFE sensor has nothing to do with the transmission issues...many conflate the two because the drivability symptoms are somewhat similar at low speeds...
