Plus many times they do not work. Ford has known about the defective CDF clutch drum that is causing 99% of the issues with the 10R80 and they still have not fixed it and still have not did a recall. I am not talking TSB, I am talking recall.
Yeah, I heard the same thing from my service advisor at the dealership yesterday - because they have only put out a TSB and not a recall. And its out of warranty for me, so it's my responsibility. Unless Ford can "help out" with the cost of a new valve body replacement or CDF clutch drum if necessary. Fingers crossed. But even so it still may be cheaper than purchasing extended coverage...

I'd take it to another dealer just to get a 2nd opinion.

Valve body replacements seem to be somewhat common for rangers and F150s.
That's what my service advisor told me yesterday.
He also said a reprogramming of the PCM/TCM is successful in 2 out of 5 cases like these. Fingers crossed!

Took my 2022 in for a complaint of harsh 3-4 shift in the morning and after a few days of diagnosis, I received an update.

Valve body needs replaced, the unit needs flushed to clean any metal shavings or debris, and the unit may need to be dropped/replaced if after they swap the valve body and it still acts up on the test drive, Ford will instruct them to replace the whole transmission.

Sound a little overkill for a minor “slip and bang” complaint?

Aside from the harsh shifts and occasionally squealing when going into R, it has been working fine otherwise.

I was thinking they’d just do the reprogram and send me on my way, not do major repairs to the truck.
I bought my 2022 Ford Ranger with 52,000 miles on it. Noticed a jerky shift every now and then but did not take action, hoping it was my imagination or just part of owning a pickup truck. Now the problem has gotten worse and I'm out of warranty.
The truck shifts into and between lower gears a little jerky and jolty, but the biggest issue is total loss of power going into 1st or 2nd gear - dead in the water right when you need some muscle to get you out of an intersection or across a busy road. Not cool.
I have done tons of research and your guys info here has been very helpful. TSB# 22-2428 is most relevant to me.
Took it to the dealership where I bought it and they are inspecting it for $330 which will include the reprogramming of PCM/TCM to the latest software.
The service advisor told me that they do tons of valve body replacements there, and that this is a pretty common problem in our class of Ford vehicles. The cost will be $1700 ballpark for a valve body replacement and that he would see if Ford can help me out with the cost.
I could also by a 3 year extended warranty for $3000 if the inspection goes in their favor.
I want them to find and fix the problem but don't want to pay any more for a new/used vehicle just 14 months after I bought it! But enough "whining" LOL.
I'll keep you posted as we progress. They have it all week so hoping for some answers and/or a favorable response from Ford

TSB 22-2428 is outdated and has been superseded about 5 times now. Latest is 25-2134
