All my air comes from behind the headlight so it doesn’t matter to me either way.
I did notice that cut out below the headlight assembly that feeds down into the bumper section. That look promising. Like you said with the temps and flow. It is none issue under that threshold. That being the case, it opens up a lot more options for me. So, thank you for that info.

Me too ?

I'm looking at the AirAid, bigger snorkel intake built in, new box with larger cone filter like the Roush or K&N but a little more conducive to dry climate here and uses a dry filter
I am going to look at that AirAid. I am coming to the conclusion It will be a custom setup for me to satisfy my cray ideas.

Daves Auto Centre says no to oil air filters

For people that have one of the CAI systems installed, do you like it? Any noticeable improvement in power and/or mpg? I am liking the way that the Mishimoto seems to be better engineered than the competition (intake hose is larger, intake system scoop is larger, dry filter, and high quality materials). The Rousch one looks cool as well and users seem to like it, but it seems like a lot of money for an intake hose, lid and filter. All of these CAI kits are insanely priced, so if I do buy one I want it to be worthwhile. I currently have the Ford Performance tune with a drop in K&N filter and it seems to be good, but more power is always better. Any input helps. Thanks!
Its not just about air temperature, but flow. Stock intake has several choke points. I love my Injen PF9071WB CAI. Big pipe, smooth bends. The motor inhales more easily and I can easily hear the turbine and pop off valve .

In reality it's all about "Volumetric Efficiency" more than anything else and there is a lot of work that goes into that along with NVH ("Noise Vibration Harshness" for those that don't know) that goes along side it. That combination is the exact reason why you can get a little more performance out of the intake alone with some changes

Absolutely! I love open filter intakes, especially since it always seems to bring out the engineering department. People love to believe in cold air instead of flow.

That is the Air filter for a M1 Abrams tank. LOL. The AFE I got has to option to seal the box. I am going to test it out for my own reason but, there is something to love about hearing the Turbo spool under boost with it open. Mine has a GFB Dv+ recirc valve and you can still hear it Blow off in the Cab.

Mine makes quite a bit of noise for sure. It’s a 4” upper intake with a 3.5” turbo inlet and 57mm turbo. Sounds like a vacuum cleaner when casually accelerating ?

The AirAid is dry, as is the Injen
There a bunch of aftermarket Dry's these days. The AEM ones have the best data for filtration that I could find. However, many claim 98%+ particle filtration these days.

Yep, running AEM in the factory box right now till I pick a CAI system to jump on

I did a lot of research before I made a decision bc I knew the factory box is really not as restrictive as some may think. Loweredon33s had a bunch of different types and came to the conclusion that flow over engine heat is the way to go. So his intake is 1/2 the engine bay and open. His point was solid. At WOT the air is compressed and heated no matter what. Plus it will suck cold air at speed no matter what. He is also over 400WHP. that demands more of everything.

I found a AFE Rapid induction for $275. It is technically a Open design. However it is supposed to seal up when the hood is closed. It can also be sealed with a cover from AFE or a DIY cover. Truth is most of these kits are going to work fine if your looking to stay moderate with your gains. 300-350WHP.

Get the one you like the best and enjoy. My AFE has a nice turbo sound on WOT and you can hear the blow off even though it is recirculated. Fun fun. Cheers
