I would not worry about a plastic pan at all off-roading. Almost anyone who really would risk damaging a pan will have full skids. If I puncture my pan I have a lot of issues going on with full steel skids.

I would and will consider this on my next transmission service. I don’t care about extra capacity, but extra cooling with the fins is possibly worth it.

I can’t thank y’all enough on the discussions about the Dorman pan. I went ahead and ordered it along with filter, fluid and got on the waiting list for the Fitzstick. I didn’t feel the need for the larger pan and its superior cooling capacity as I have the big diesel for my towing. This little truck is just a back and forth to work with the occasional road trips.
Hopefully I offered help to at least one person that wasn’t aware of it. Maybe was on the fence like myself and decided it’s good enough for him/her just to gain the drain plug.

I saw a thread about them on a bronco page. They were unsure of Dorman fit quality but no one actually had first hand experience with the part. Looks like a good solution for those of us that just want easier fluid an filter changes.

I can't speak to this particular part, but I have purchased several Dorman parts including a driveshaft for my 2005 Ranger (aluminum just like the factory part) and the steel transmission pan with the plug for easy maintenance. Both were good solid products and I have no hesitation about purchasing Dorman products.

I think the pan will be fine for what it is. I wish it had been available when I purchased my PPE Deep pan. Choices and options are good things. I probably would have still purchased the PPE, but only because my trannny is bipolar. Great in the winter, and substandard in the summer.

I just finished replacing the hydraulic hoses on my Bendpak lift (they lasted 17 years!). Tomorrow I remove the lift tank and clean it , then replace the fluid and test. Once it is operational, it is change the oil in one car and install the PPE pan, filter and fluid in the Ranger.

Once I get everything in and installed, I’ll be sure to come back with an update and personal opinion on it. Might be spring time until I have the dipstick but I’ll get it eventually.

If a good deal on a lift falls in my lap on Marketplace I might get it but I avoid working on stuff now, it used to be a hobby, now it's a pain.

Since you have to remove the OE pan to replace it with the Dorman, why not just install one of these instead and save some $$.

Because that has a higher chance of leaking. That is why. Those are ok on steel pans. Plastic is questionable.
I would be afraid of it leaking too an it looks like the last quarter inch or so of the fluid wouldn't drain with the inner nut in the way possibly leaving a lot of sludge in the pan.

I have the Fitz stick and I'd rather spend my money a fluid pump. No need for a drain plug.
